But guess what? I LOVED IT!
What could be a better gift for a gal who loves to cook and to blog?
The DVD of the movie "Julie & Julia" of course. I was literally jumping up and down when I opened it.
Check out this preview:
I loved the scenery. At least, I loved the scenery in France where Julia Child lived. I'm quite familiar with the burroughs of NYC since I grew up on Long Island and that's where Julie lived; in Queens. Not so pretty but perfect in this movie as it went back and forth to Julia's life and back again to Julie. And here's where blogging comes in. Julie starts a blog as she works her way through Julia Child's famous cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". Her goal is to complete it in one year.
I had to laugh when she wrote on her blog "is anyone out there?". Can you identify? And her first comment was from her mom!
I laughed out loud when Julie had over 50 comments and she jumped up excitedly at her work to tell her friend. I love to read comments too.
I also had to laugh when she and her hubby had a fight. As she was writing on her blog, she had to delete that part to protect their privacy. There are times when I write on Heart Choices and end up deleting portions after I proof read it to protect the innocent. Nothing like telling the world everything that goes on in your life, right?
So, if you're looking for a fun movie to watch during this week, I would highly recommend "Julie & Julia". It's rated PG-13 because of a few words (bad language). But otherwise, I loved it.
Have you seen it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I just loved this movie, too! Hubby and I watched it a week ago thru Direct TV like you suggested. Then we recorded it on the DVR so we can watch it again. Can't wait! I'm with you, it's excellent.
ReplyDeleteI just have to watch this movie. Thank you so much for sharing this trailer. I hope my hubby is with me on this - lol...
ReplyDeleteYou know, when I started blogging some almost 5 years ago, I jumped up and down when I received one comment - lol.
Will you join me in 2010 to live fearlessly and put all caution aside and trust Him completely?
Love you, girl...
Scott took me to see this when it came out. We both laughed so much! We needed a light and funny movie - little did he know it was about blogging. He HATES blogging - LOL! Doesn't like how much I love it either. But definitely has come around after seeing the deep relationships like ours built from it that glorify God!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed it! What a good gift to get you! Laughing is one of God's greatest gifts to the soul!
Love you!
Jill
Oh Debbie I just LOVED this movie. Every little thing about it. I love cooking, I love blogging, and I love Meryl Streep doing almost anything, haha...I have seen it twice at the movies. I took my mom on her birthday and my sisters took me on mine. I didn't realize it was out in DVD so now I will just have to go buy it. I might even go today. Right after I am done blogging, haha. Have a great day Deb.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
Haven't seen it yet, but it's on my Netflix's list.

And then her mom commented...LOL!!!! I so get it and I love your blog too!!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie. While I love blogging...cooking, well, hmmm. I can't wait to check out this movie now! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteDear Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI love feel good movies too, but I haven't seen Julie and Julia yet.
How sweet of your husband to give you an unexpected surprise gift.
One of those counts for ten of the ordinary ones.
I got ten copy of different Astrid Lindgren and Anne Cath Vestly movies from my daughter. She knows they give me peace of mind and brings back happy memories to me. (They are children's movies, but can be enjoyed by anyone.)
Apropos bad language. My grandmother Serina once recommended my mother a book. My mother came back and said, "But mother they are using foul language in this book!" "I know," my grandmother said, "but I pretend not seeing it".
I think that's a good way to relate to unwanted language.
"Keep on to the good", Paul said.
Happy New Year to you too, my dear blog friend.
From Felisol
I saw J and J with my girls. We really enjoyed it also. I think it would be fun to have a girlfriend party, watch the movie and fix dinner together. What a fun evening. Gee, I wish someone would organize that......
ReplyDeleteLove you
This movie was great. My DH and I saw it and we love to cook. Every blogger can identify with the thrill of comments! So, Debbie, does this mean you may have a "cooking" blog also one of these days? I hope so!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mary
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out the movie.
Thanks for sharing.
The one about the comments is funny......Is anyone out there?
Sometimes I see I have 90 page hits and no comments. I think people just like to read.
My first comment was my assistant at work.
Pretty funny :)
Blessings,
Tammy
I LOVED this movie tooo :) What a great gift! My husband and I saw this movie and I was so excited about the blogging part, I could sooo relate!
ReplyDeleteLove you my friend
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI can't sleep so guess what, I'm reading blogs!
How I love this movie! I posted about it back in October when I first saw it. The fact that it illustrates two supportive marriages really tickles my heart.
Couples who work through difficult issues because love is so important. Check out the special feature about how the film was made...very enjoyable.
I pray that your new year will be filled with blessing and love!
I haven't seen the movie but you make me want to! I'll let you know =) Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband actually took me to the theater to see it. I mean it involved blogging and cooking - two things I love!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I liked the movie and really got a kick out of the way they emphasized her emotion through the whole process. It really is how bloggers tend to react. It was just funny to watch it.
Absolutely loved this movie, (my husband did too amazingly!) and it almost made me want to get in there and cook!!! (actually this Christmas I've baked and cooked like never before and maybe that's why, haha) Keep up your wonderful blog, God is using it for His glory!!!!
ReplyDeleteoops! The comment I just wrote said "anonymous", guess I didn't put my name on it, sorry!
