Your Great Name

"Your Great Name" is a song that Natalie Grant sings.  I've heard it on the radio driving to work several times this week and it has ministered to me.

It can be all too easy to focus on the problems and challenges in life.  But when I focus on the name of Jesus and who He is ...my perspective changes.

The words to this song are beautiful and a wonderful reminder of His Great Name.  Nothing is impossible for our God.

Are You a F.A.T. Disciple?

It's "In Other Words Tuesday" and I'm linking up with Karen at In Love W.I.T.H. Jesus.

Karen chose the quote for us to write about this week:

I love acronyms as they help me to remember.  And I can use all the help I can get ...

But F.A.T. disciples?

It makes sense though.

Faithful

I believe I am faithful.  In fact, I think I'm pretty loyal.  For the past 15 years or so, I've grown in my walk of faith.  The more I study God's Word, the more I'm amazed by His love.  Why would He send His Son to die for me when I don't deserve it?

But He did and I'm so grateful for His grace and mercy.

And in response ...I'm faithful.

Available

I want to be available.  I often pray that God would open the eyes of my heart to see what He has for me this day.  You see, I find that some of the interruptions in my day are actually Divine appointments.  But if I'm not available, I'd  miss them.  I have to admit I've probably missed many of His appointments but my desire is to be available.

Teachable

I've always wanted to be a life long learner.  I remember my pastor talking about this and how important it is. None of us has arrived and there's always something new to learn.  In my walk of faith, I've got a life time to learn. I'm so thankful that God hasn't given up on me as some things take me a long time to learn.

I'm finding that TRUST is something that I learn all too slowly.  And it often takes trials and testing for me to have to depend on the Lord.  But through it all, I believe I am learning.  He is sovereign and in control of ALL things.

So I guess I must admit that I want to be a F.A.T. disciple.  I never thought I'd want to be a FAT anything but this I can strive for.

I also find that I do best teaching others things that I struggle with too.  I need to be accountable and that's a very good thing.

How about you?  Do you want to be a F.A.T. disciple?

Blessings and love,

Grateful for Everyday Blessings

I'm counting everyday blessings as I link up with Ann of A Holy Experience.

I have to drive quite a distance to get back and forth to work each day.  While I find working with little children all day can be fun, it is very tiring.

Upon arriving home one evening, I was greeted with this sign posted across the stove in the kitchen.

As I walked into the rest of the house, I saw another sign posted.

My husband had created a new dish for dinner.  Greg is very creative in his cooking.  He never follows a recipe and is great with leftovers.

Since he works online from home, he surprised me with a pasta dish using frozen artichokes he found in the freezer and a variety of other ingredients.  I have to say ...it was delicious!

#142 Our marriage relationship has grown closer in the midst of our trials and challenges

Although the temperatures in the Phoenix area are setting heat records, we do have air conditioned rooms in our school.

Our three year old class learned to hold their pencils last week.  Some of them still need some help.  But they are beginning to learn to write their names.

Children at this age do not like to share.  I guess that's our human nature.  But in PE, they had to find a partner and share a ball.  They learned to pass it back and forth.  A few of them struggled and some of them didn't like the partner they were assigned but in the end, they seemed to have ...fun.

Yesterday in church, we sang several songs of praise that were very meaningful to me.  One of the songs was called "In His Time" and I hadn't heard it in such a long time.  I thought the lyrics were worth posting as I know I struggle with God's timing.  I seem to want my prayers answered NOW but that's usually not God's perfect timing.

#146 Learning to trust God's perfect timing

IN HIS TIME, IN HIS TIME
HE MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME
LORD, PLEASE SHOW ME EVERYDAY
AS YOU'RE TEACHING ME YOUR WAY
AND I'LL DO JUST WHAT YOU SAY
IN YOUR TIME.

IN YOUR TIME, IN YOUR TIME
YOU MAKE ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN YOUR TIME
LORD, MY LIFE TO YOU I BRING
MAY EACH SONG I HAVE TO SING
BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME

BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME.

My niece Katie lives in Brooklyn, NY.  I also have many friends who live on Long Island where I grew up.   I was praying for them as Hurricane Irene was heading for their area.

#147  Thankful that my loved ones and friends are safe

Blessings and love,
