It's Then Sings My Soul Saturday when I link up with Amy of Signs, Miracles and Wonders.
This morning, I awakened with the song "Still" in my head.
God is so amazing! His mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.
I went to sleep last night somewhat troubled. I hate to admit that because my theme for 2010 is to learn to trust and obey. And it was only one day into the new year and ...I wasn't trusting already.
But God ...awakened me with this song!
Hide me now under your wings
Cover me within your mighty hand.
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are King over the flood
I will be still and know you are God.
Find rest my soul in Christ alone
Know His power in quietness and trust.
What more can I say? I will trust and obey Him.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Debbie, Don't you just love it when the Father gives us a song as we wake up. I do and I woke up with a song this morning, a childrens song about How Great Is The Love The Father has lavished on us. May He lavish His love and blessings on you and your hubby this new year and give you grace and peace.

Oh Debbie, this is beautiful! I'm sitting here in tears. I'm gonna suggest Denise and Eddie listen to this today. Thanks so much for posting this.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year my friend.
I love the imagery of "soar" in this song!! I just closed my eyes and literally pictured myself soaring - just putting my trust in God and letting myself go.
ReplyDeleteIn her first memoir, Anne Lamott remembers a prayer that the older women in her church taught her, "When we jump into the darkness of the unknown, faith lets us believe that we will either land on solid ground - or we will be taught how to fly."
This is song is very powerful. I especially love the line "I will be still and know you are God." This line - no matter if through song or reading His Word, always bring tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how hard life hits us - He is our comfort, strength and peace.
Thank you for sharing, Debbie. Praying for your soul to trust and obey Him in 2010...
Love & peace,
Iris
Blessings Debbie...

This is one of my favorite songs to sing with my church. How meaningful that God gave you this song this morning, just when you needed it. He is so with you on your journey to "trust and obey." I know I'm going to learn so much about trusting and obeying from you this year.

Lisa
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteTrust and Obey - be still and know that I AM GOD!
He who spoke this song into your heart will do what you have asked and need. Listen to His voice today and let His love seep deep into your heart, mind and spirit!
Hugs precious friend!
Love,
Jill
I'm not very good at trusting and obeying!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this much needed reminder.
I hope that you are having a good weekend, friend. And I pray that many blessings are yours in 2010 :)

ReplyDeleteOH, I LOVE when God wakes me with a song in my heart.. And that's a good one. thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAmen...what more can be said...trust and obey...in Christ alone....
ReplyDeleteOh Debbie :) I know I already commented on this post...but I just had to come back and thank you for the WONDERFUL and uplifting comment you left on my blog. Oh my goodness! I just kept reading it over and over again. I needed to hear every single word. I love how you say that God is trustworthy. And I love how you say that God not only has good things for us....but the best. So awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm REALLY thankful for you. Your sweet words made my night :)
Have a beautiful Sunday, friend.
Hugs,
Kate :)
Debbie...I know I can come to your posts and be encouraged! We all need to remember to trust in HIM!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
As a hygienist, I truly enjoy what I do & I love my patients. I often think though that "if only, I had been a hygienist for 20+ years, rather than having just graduated this last May 2009! I would'nt be stressed about not being as fast as I would like to be...but I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!) so right now, that is my challenge...and I know that in all things...I need only to lean on HIM.
I am also so thankful for wonderful blogger friends such as you...I do try to keep my blog free of the "dental hygiene" part of my world, but it's great that I can mention some of these concerns to some one besides my poor hubby, who is such an encourager and willing listener. I need to work on not being "whine-y" and Praise God at all times!
Blessings & Aloha!
Dear Debbie,
ReplyDeleteToday I did something I only too seldom do. I prayed for a word to send to you.
Then I randomly opened my Bible and found the words I have got so many times myself, when in deep trouble. I have even thought, "God cannot mean this literally, cause my troubles are too big for this to happen." But do you know what, Debbie, I was answered in miraculous ways, not only once but many times.
And I testify God has kept his words to the last letter.
Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
18 For He maketh sore, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and His hands make whole.
19 He will deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20 In famine He will redeem thee from death; and in war from the power of the sword.
21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24 And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt miss nothing.
25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a ripe age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in its season.
27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
I am so looking forwards to learning the good news be revealed one by one.
From Felisol
"The song you awake to is your song for the day" is what my mentor once told me! Isn't it just like the accuser to harass us when we set a new goal? I'm trusting Him with you this coming year. Let's hold each other up!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mary
Amen, beautiful song !
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year !
