Here we are outside T. Cook's Restaurant.
And inside the restaurant to celebrate. Mom didn't have much of an appetite at this point. She'd been suffering with pain for so long. I remember as we were driving to the restaurant she told my dad and me that she was ready to go whenever the Lord called her home. Of course, we said that we weren't ready for that ...yet.
Later that same year on Christmas Day, I had a big surprise for my parents. My brother Steve invited them to his house but they didn't know that I was flying to Florida from Arizona ...to surprise them. And boy, were they were surprised! I think this is the last photo I have of the two of us. My mother died only two months later. I was so glad I made that trip on the spur of the moment.
My mom always loved to set a pretty table. Whenever she had dinner guests, she had linen tablecloths and napkins and a flower centerpiece. I even found her notes for each dinner party including the table setting details. So in honor of my mom's birthday on July 6th, here's a beautiful table that she would have enjoyed.
I'm so glad that I know I will see her again one day. But until that day, I miss her very much and haven't forgotten her special day.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Celebrating with you today as you remember your mother.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, I received word that my friend, Beth, has gone home to be with Jesus. She was 51 and had suffered 6 years with cancer. My heart is breaking and tender with emotion as I reflect.
Yes, we will fellowship with our loved ones around the throne one day. But until then, I pray God's comfort for each one of us who grieve the absence of friends/family so dearly loved. May God be close to you this day as you remember.

Hi sweet Debbie, What sweet photos and memories. It is amazing how quickly time flies-my older sister, more like my mom, went to glory on July 1st four years ago. Sometimes it seems like so much longer and other times it feels like yesterday. I know you feel the same way. What a wonderful post in her honor.
ReplyDeleteBe blessed.
Precious Debbie, this brought me to tears. What a beautiful tribute to your beautiful Mom. O the day will come when you will be reunited together with the LORD and what a day of celebration that will be.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the day when I will see my baby, and my Grandparents again also.
May the comfort and peace of GOD rest with you as you remember with love, your precious Mom.
I love you.
Thanks for sharing your mom with us. I'll look forward to meeting her on that great day...and you too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and wonderful post! I love how much you love and respect her, and still do things to honor her memory and impact on your life. So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that you posted about your mom today. I don't think I knew July 6th was your mom's b-day. You may not remember, but my mom passed away July 6, ten years ago. You were so sweet to walk with me through her passing. Remember how we sang songs of the faith to her? That is a precious memory to me. And I remember the day you called to tell me your mom had died. What a beautiful, sweet mom she was.
ReplyDeleteHere's to our mom's, my dear friend. Wish we could take them out to lunch......
Oh Debbie, that made me cry. I know your Mom will be so happy to see you again! I'm so glad God made a way for you to see her in Florida! What a wonderful surprise!
