God Answers Prayer

What happens when you pray and the answer isn't what you hoped for?

I prayed to have a child of my own for years.

But God ...

He had a different plan than the one I expected.

Instead of my own child, I now have many children to teach, encourage and love.

So, trust the Lord and ask Him to replace your desires with His desires.

"Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby.

Fill the air with song, you who've never experienced childbirth!
You're ending up with far more children
than all those childbearing women. God says so!"
Isaiah 54:1  The Message

I'm linking up for Word-filled Wednesday at Internet Cafe Devotions.

Blessings and love,

  3. What a sweet post coming from a surrendered woman...A woman who desires God's wishes over her own....What an example to all of us who think we must have things our own way....when you are showing us that God's way is so much better.....

    Love you sweet friend....

  4. I hope and pray that that is the message you heard between the lines on my post about my Sunday School teacher!!!
I can't speak from not having children, but I can speak from not having some dreams fulfilled and in that area of barrenness I too need to rise and sing!
    Precious post my friend

  12. Anybody can love her own child; it takes a big and generous heart to share of oneself with other children.
Working with children means using your own body and soul as working tool.
How lucky the children are, who get to meet you.
In times of ungodliness and materialism the children sorely need love and attention.
I'm so glad for the ones who are trusted in your care.
May your work still remain as blessed as it is by now.

  16. I use to teach preschool for about 10 years, mainly the age of 2. And I always consider them to be my little babies. Teaching does the heart good and your students are bless to have you as theirs.

  20. Debbie I just love reading your messages. Its true sometimes when i pray I get opposite results to what i asked for, but in such times i am reminded that God doesnt do anything outside His word and God has a special purpose for my life. I allow Gods word now to guide me in prayer and still maintain the stance that whether I get what I am asking for or not, God still remains God and Jesus is still Lord. Just as my thoughts arent his thoughts, the same way I cant even imagine the plans he has in store for each and every one of us. God bles you Debbie, may your children be as numerous as the stars in the sky. www.daghewardmills.org
