I prayed to have a child of my own for years.
But God ...
He had a different plan than the one I expected.
Instead of my own child, I now have many children to teach, encourage and love.
So, trust the Lord and ask Him to replace your desires with His desires.
"Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby.
Fill the air with song, you who've never experienced childbirth!
You're ending up with far more children
than all those childbearing women. God says so!"
Isaiah 54:1 The Message
I'm linking up for Word-filled Wednesday at Internet Cafe Devotions.
Blessings and love,
God always knows best, even when it isn't what we were hoping for. I had Him answer a prayer this week in an unexpected way, thanks for sharing how you got to see joy from His desire replacing your own.
ReplyDeleteMay HIS desires become my desires! I grasp for such blessed contentment. Thank you for sharing dear one. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post coming from a surrendered woman...A woman who desires God's wishes over her own....What an example to all of us who think we must have things our own way....when you are showing us that God's way is so much better.....
ReplyDeleteLove you sweet friend....
I hope and pray that that is the message you heard between the lines on my post about my Sunday School teacher!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't speak from not having children, but I can speak from not having some dreams fulfilled and in that area of barrenness I too need to rise and sing!
Precious post my friend
Love this. The Lord has really helped me in this area. I have all my nieces and nephews plus a new group of kids each year.
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt in my mind that you are the BEST of Moms among us. How blessed are the wee ones in your life & care.
ReplyDeleteyou are a living testimony of a life lived in trust.
ReplyDeleteto think how many little lives you have touched!
Amen, beautifully said my friend.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thank you for sharing your heart.
ReplyDeleteI am trusting the Lord and asking Him to replace my desires with His desires over a life partner.
God Bless you more and your 'children'.
The Lord will increase you more and more, you and your children.
You are precious Debbie in every way and a Mother in the spirit and that is extra special! You are touching many for Christ sake!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
It shows how much you love the children - surely God has blessed you.
ReplyDeleteAnybody can love her own child; it takes a big and generous heart to share of oneself with other children.
ReplyDeleteWorking with children means using your own body and soul as working tool.
How lucky the children are, who get to meet you.
In times of ungodliness and materialism the children sorely need love and attention.
I'm so glad for the ones who are trusted in your care.
May your work still remain as blessed as it is by now.
Hello sweet Debbie! The Lord awakened me in Aug. 14, 1993 and gave me Isaiah 54.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely blessing all of those children with the love of Jesus.
So sweet!
Beth
Oh Bless you Debbie.....think how many little lives you keep touching every day. I still remember every teacher I ever had in grammar school, some I like better than others, but they all had a huge impact on my life. So, yes, you do have kids!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we are surprised by God's other plans. But what a blessing they are when we surrender to Him! The children you teach are indeed blessed to have you in their lives! Blessings, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteI use to teach preschool for about 10 years, mainly the age of 2. And I always consider them to be my little babies. Teaching does the heart good and your students are bless to have you as theirs.

Those children are blessed to have you! Funny, how we look back and see our faithful God weaving our days for His glory!
ReplyDeleteThank you for being transparent, may God continue to bless you.
ReplyDeleteDebbie I just love reading your messages. Its true sometimes when i pray I get opposite results to what i asked for, but in such times i am reminded that God doesnt do anything outside His word and God has a special purpose for my life. I allow Gods word now to guide me in prayer and still maintain the stance that whether I get what I am asking for or not, God still remains God and Jesus is still Lord. Just as my thoughts arent his thoughts, the same way I cant even imagine the plans he has in store for each and every one of us. God bles you Debbie, may your children be as numerous as the stars in the sky. www.daghewardmills.org
