Friday Photo Flashback ~ 1963

Friday Photo Flashback
It's Friday Photo Flashback and I'm linking up with Alicia of More Than Words.

The whole idea behind this meme is to dig out those old pre-digital photos.

I attended my niece Kristin's wedding over Labor Day weekend in Florida.  I spent a few nights with my sister Christine and found out she had most of our old family photo albums.  So I convinced Chris to part with some of them so I could scan them online.

I think you might be able to see the date May 1963 on the top of this photo.  However, most of you probably weren't even born in 1963. :)

Pictured is my little sister Christine, me and my older brother (by 18 months) Steve in our backyard in Lindenhurst, New York.

The story behind this photo is that we got two bunny rabbits as a gift from my parents.  I think the bunny in the picture is named Suzanne.  My dad built a cage and we were supposed to feed them and take care of them. It was a novelty at first  but then we got busy.  I'm ashamed to say that the bunnies weren't around too long.  :(

To this day, my brother Steve takes care of all the animals in his house. They  have rabbits and birds and a dog named Harley.  Steve is probably making up for the rabbits we lost; lol. But he always feeds them and makes sure they are well taken care of.

Maybe you have some old pre-digital photos you'd care to share?

Blessings and love,

  3. I always love your pictures! Your bunny story reminds me of our guinea pigs, Squeaky 1, Squeaky 2... and one more try with Squeaky 3! Unfortunately, they didn't last very long either...

  4. How great to find many albums of pictures from your childhood.
    What a great treasure.
"The best years of our lives."
We have also shared lots of family photos by scanning them.
Sharing makes rich, don't you think?

I don't think children are capable of fully understand the needs of an animal. they grown up support.
We had a cat, whom we were supposed to look after.
My dad ended up doing the job...

I'm looking forwards to more happy childhood pictures.

  9. I love your photo it's so
    sweet and charming. Seems
    like everything was back
    then. I remember getting
    baby chicks and bunnies and
trying to care for them. I
    decided later that kitties
    were going to become my
    favorite pets for life.
    pets.
    Love,

  11. I love looking at people's pictures! It's so fun. My daughter wants bunnies SO badly! We have a cat and dog and frankly they are enough for me. I did some reading and found out rabbits can live 20 years!!!! Um, I don't want that responsiblity! They are cute, but all that poop would drive me crazy. It is just hard to see her want something, she loves animals; but to also know the kind of commitment it would take, we have long winters here in MN. I think she thinks they are cuddly and from what I've read they are not. My husband says Not a chance.

  14. I was 7 in 1963 :-) My parents raised rabbits when I was little and then I did it again when I was in elementary school. I just loved their softness but it was a chore to take care of them. I was always sad in the fall when my uncle came to take them back to the farm. I pretend they still live there but really know what he did. (Ahhhhh!)

    Love to you! ;-)

  16. I had to laugh when you said most of you probably weren't even born yet in May of 63'. My dear sweet friend, in May of 63' I was Graduating Grammar school, St. Richard's to be exact at the ripe old age of 13. LOL At that time I had a cocker spaniel named Rusty that I shared with my brother Jr. who was 6 yrs. older than I. I guess we sing the same tune my friend! LOL
