It's Then Sings My Soul Saturday when I link up with Amy of Signs, Miracles and Wonders.
This week I've been reminded several times that this is not my permanent home. I'm just passing through. It can be easy to get comfortable in this world. But I want to keep my eyes on the prize and not lose sight of why I'm here.
I've heard this Carrie Underwood song several times this week and it spoke to my heart. I hope you enjoy it and hear the message she's really sharing with you.
Have a wonderful Saturday!
And remember that this isn't our permanent home; we're just passing through. The best is yet to come.
Blessings and love,
Debbie: I've never heard this song, but it's beautiful and oh so true. I now know what song I'll be getting next for my iPod. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song. And beautiful lyrics. So true! I'm so grateful for our citizenship up there! :) Have a great weekend. God bless.
ReplyDeleteThis has been on my heart lately, and I was planning on addressing it on my blog one day....temporary home. It has come to mean even more since for the first time in 48 years of my life I am living in a rental home, and so understand the temporary feeling...I can't make it my home, any more than I should make this earth my home...I am only passing through....thanks for the post, blessed me today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog...sounds like we have more in common. We were forced to sell our dream home in a short sale last year, and I am still trying to adjust. I always wanted my grandkids to come and see where their parents had grown up. Our sixth was born there...but it wasn't God's plan and he is teaching me daily through this struggle. Blessings to you,
ReplyDeleteOh that's beautiful. I'd never heard it before. The Flashback Friday gave us both ideas for our TSMSS songs!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly my feeling.. God has brought us to this place in numerous ways. We are all pilgrimages on a journey towards HOME! It is definitely our Temporary Home.
Blessings,
Teresa
Debbie - I loved this song! I love her voice too - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo true - we are not meant to feel like we are home here.
Love the words!
Hugs and have a blessed weekend!

I really like Carrie Underwood. I've heard this song and thought it was beautiful. Glad you posted it here, now I can enjoy hearing and seeing her sing it.
ReplyDelete'Just passing through'...how true that is. I just started reading "Heaven"... I'm only on page 20 and it's a big book, but I am so thankful that the best is ahead of us, not behind us!
Love you sister.
Sonja
Amen sis.
ReplyDeleteYes, we live here on earth temporarily so we must prepared ourselves for our permanent homes. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, its difficult to remember that the time we spend in this life is but the blink of an eye in eternity. Thanks for the reminder.

Debbie...let me just say first that I LOVE Carrie Underwood. Definitely one of my favorites. And that song is just beautiful. The words and the way she sings it. And then, this lesson is definitely the one that the Lord has been working on with me these last couple of months as well. Everything on this earth is "temporary"...we truly are only passing through. My kids are all a little upset that we are leaving our house they grew up in. Especially Mel as she was born here and lived here until she married. I am struggling with it too. But the bottom line is...it is just a "house"...the "heart" of our home, Jesus, will NEVER change and will always be there. We may change our surroundings, but our family will remain the same. For now...eventually we will all move on from here to our "permanate" home. THEN is when we can all settle in forever. My only concern is that we are all there. In the meantime, everywhere we live is "temporary"...a season in our lives. This last season for me was a LONG one. 25 years. I have no idea where we are going still...and yet, I do know where ever it is it too will only be for a season...we will be together God willing, and He will make it home. Have a wonderful week-end. HUGS, Debbie
ReplyDeleteone of my all tiem favorite songs for sure we are only here temporary for one day we will go home to our Lord
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of the lines:
ReplyDelete"And can I call my home
My Father's house on high?
The rest of God, my rest to come,
My place of liberty?
Yes! In that light unstained
My stainless soul shall live;
My heart's deep longings more than gained,
When God His rest shall give."

Great pick for this Saturday! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful video and song, Debbie. Thanks for sharing it. Love you ~
ReplyDeleteWhen I first starting reading your post I thought you had picked an old song from my childhood...."This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through, My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue........."
ReplyDeleteIt was always one of my favorites as a girl. I guess I've known for most of my life that indeed, "this world is not my home." Of course, when we are young, we often don't want to leave this world - too many things we don't want to miss out on. That first kiss, the prom, having a family...... But as we mature, it's easy to think with a smile on my face that indeed, this world is not my home.
Funny thing is, my girls told me about this song last weekend on our little trip up North. They both assured me I would cry, as they did just thinking about it. Well, I understand why they felt that way, but then again, there is a smile on my face because......"this world is not my home, I'm just passing through.....
Oh wow Debbie, I am right there with you. I look forward to the day in my new permanent home! Amen!
ReplyDeleteThis pulled at my heartstrings. What a great message to ponder, especially if we know where we are going!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful song! Oh that we would remember that every moment, of every day. I forget all too often, and begin to set down roots here.
ReplyDeleteWon't it be amazing when at last we have reached our permanent home?!!
Love,
Kathleen
Yes a beautiful song, I had not heard it before.

Many blessings.
A beautiful song, and a great message! Thanks for sharing it with us, Debbie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jesus that I am just passing through this life.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to see Joshua any time.
