How Can I Keep From Singing?

It's Then Sings My Soul Saturday when I link up with Amy of Signs, Miracles and Wonders. I didn't want to miss another day of blogging and visiting some of my favorite blogs.

I had one of those down days on Thursday. I wrote a blog post entitled "Have You Ever Felt So Tired?". Recently, I decided I was going to be a bit more transparent. I love to encourage others but there are days when I need a bit of encouragement myself and ...it was one of those days.

But I'm so blessed and thankful to have such awesome blogging and real life friends. I almost cried as I read your comments. I didn't feel so alone as you shared similiar feelings at times and suggested things that worked for you. Thank you so much for your encouragement.

Do I have it all together?

NO WAY!

My response to all of that encouragement is to ...sing and praise and worship.

Last Sunday we sang this song in my church. I've heard it in my head often since then so I thought I'd share it with you this week. There's nothing like hearing Chris Tomlin sing. So much better than if you heard me; LOL.

This song was one of our theme songs a few years ago at my church's women's retreat. I thought I'd share a few photos. This song sparked a few memories from our fun time at Bison Ranch in the Arizona mountains.

What a fun time we had that weekend! I hope you enjoy visiting other blogs on this Then Sings My Soul Saturday.

Thank you for picking it out. I'm sure it really means a lot to you, as you deal with so many unknowns in your life.

  6. So glad you were able to go from "have you ever felt so tired" to "how can I keep from singing"...this song is one of those that it is impossible to hear and not join in...melodious or not...so many chains fall when we lift our voices in praise...

  7. What a great example of "put on a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness" :) If we would all do this when we have a hard time I KNOW that we would experience so many things.....grace, peace, breakthrough etc. Beside the Lord inhabits the praise of HIS children and we all know that when HE is in our midst mighty things happen!

Bless you my friend for sharing this and may you experience HIM and HIS will...may you have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying!

    Love to you

  8. Great song! I think we all get down sometimes. Tired or just plain weary. God doesn't expect us to be up all the time. That is His job. Our job is to remember to look up towards Him when we are down.

  9. Debbie the words to that song are beautiful and I feel that way in my heart. I love the Lord so much, he has been so good to me and my family and lately I always have a song of praise in my head especially while I am working midnights and I am usually by myself and when there are no patients I am able to pray and worship him in my spirit.
Funny about moving to Arizona...Tito and I talk about it all the time North Carolina, Georgia not while my parents are alive but then who knows I hate michigan weather.
    Love you Debbie

  11. It's long been a favorite song of mine too. There's just something about singing - particularly the sort of singing that stirs the soul and causes praise to rise up in every fiber of our being - that often leaves me in tears.

Sing on, sister. I join your chorus!

  13. Blessings Debbie, You certainly chose the best song to lift you and us up!

Whether we are weary, tired, hurt, sick, suffering, grieving, whatever
if we sing, even with sobs or tears, praise & worship songs will change the tide as we come to Him. And listening to Chris Tomlin's great song, well...our hearts just have to sing when we think of these words, "we are loved by the King"
    ... He is our everything!

And look at how you made a choice to sing and reminisce with good times & sisters in the Lord! Now that's what counts and sparks us to "move forward"...that's why I put that song as my proclamation for 2010. So that no matter how I feel, that I will keep moving forward and pressing on. That Isaiah 43:19 reminds us and of course, there are other great scriptures that encourage us when we cope with so many unknowns, He knows & we can trust Him.

Perfect song to break the chains &
press on & praise the One who sets us free. (not just a one time deal but continuously and whenever we need it)! Keep praising Deb even when you need others to hold up your arms up! So glad He turned heaviness into a garment of praise for you! EnJOY TSMSS & keep on!!!

  23. Hopefully you know I love Chris Tomlin, too.

Went back and read your other post about living on feelings or faith.

My "feelings" get me down sometimes, too. Let's choose faith!!

  25. I love this song.

How can I keep from singing his praise?

    Isn't this true?

NOT praising God is more of a choice than praising is. Our soul longs to sing it out from the mountain-tops. Our human-ness is the thing that most often keeps that from happening.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to be praising him a LOT more.
