"Without faith it is impossible to please God." Hebrews 11:6As a disciple of Jesus Christ, do I really believe Him ...by faith?
Or do I need to have external validation of that belief?
As a human being living in a physical body, it's easy to live by my senses. You know, what I can see, hear and touch.
But faith requires spiritual belief. I may not always get to see, hear and touch with my physical senses. But I believe by faith.
According to the online Dictionary, authentic means "not false or copied; genuine; real".
As a follower of Jesus (disciple), my faith is in Him. I believe His Word. I trust Him. I love Him. He is the object of my faith.
There are times when the benefits of my faith include success in ministry or mastery over difficult Scriptures. That is a blessing from the fruit of my relationship with Him.
But how tempting it can be to begin to trust in these experiences instead of trusting in ...God Himself.
As an authentic disciple, I may not always have supernatural experiences. I may go through times of seeming draught.
So, I go back to what I know that I know ...by faith.
As a follower of Jesus (disciple), my faith is in Him. I believe His Word. I trust Him. I love Him. He is the object of my faith.

Amen, great post.
ReplyDeleteHey Debbie ... what a wonderful visit I've had meandering around your Blog Home. Wow, is it ever chocked full of resources and thought-provoking items. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI see you're a Joel Rosenberg fan which, I suppose, makes us even more kindred. And any friend of Carrie Underwood (and country music) is a friend of mine!
I'll be back.
Be blessed,
Kathleen Flanagan
Being authentic is very important. Praise the Lord its something we all can be, its up to us.
ReplyDeleteChallenging question. Bless you!
ReplyDeleteVery good devotion...it's all about faith...do we believe regardless of the circumstances or do we believe only if we see results....
ReplyDeleteAs an authentic disciple, I may not always have supernatural experiences. I may go through times of seeming draught.
ReplyDeleteSo, I go back to what I know that I know ...by faith.
God continually brings me back to this. So much of my spiritual life revolves around Him telling me, "Trust Me." When will I learn?!
I guess the point of today's quote is that a disciple may not get it right all the time, but they will keep trying.
Thanks for reminding me to live by faith, Debbie.
Jesus is the real deal and so are you, kiddo. Authentic should be your middle name. I love your heart and your blog is rightly named. (And you are, by golly, the Book of Esther!!!!)
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Mary
