I will be hosting "In Other Words Tuesday" this week. I'm excited about this as Tuesday is Valentine's Day.
As I was considering what quote to use for us to write about, I wanted it to be special for this particular day. I came to realize that the best source for words of wisdom on LOVE is ...the Bible.
So here is the quote I chose:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I encourage you to participate this Tuesday.
- Write a blog post using this quote.
- Link back to Heart Choices on Tuesday.
- Share your thoughts on these Bible verses about love.
Blessings and love,
Hi Debbie, I suppose I will be ahead of the game, but just want to comment now, as I already know that on Tuesday, I will be extremely busy. Just wanted to say that our pastor spoke on "love" today - kinda sounds funny. A pastor speaking on "love..." I suppose he does that every Sunday in a way. Anyhow........
ReplyDeleteHe spoke of the four types of love mentioned in the Bible, and then he challenged us to show love to someone this week, asking us as a congregation to name some ways we might do that. Cards, phone calls, fixing a meal for someone, as well as other ideas were mentioned. I thought it was a wonderful idea - just to really be intentional about sharing love with someone who may not expect it this week. I think for starters I might bake some cookies and take them to my neighbors - a busy mom with two little ones. And I think I might make a special treat for my pastor. Any other ideas out there?
Sometimes I need to slow down and read familiar verses in the Bible over again, and this one is especially good for me to do so, for if we all followed this Word, our world would be a more loving place. I can start with me, and take these words to heart. Thank you, Debbie ~ a wonderful passage to blog on.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I'll be back! I just wrote a post using that verse...well, it is actually at the bottom of the post, does that count? =)
