God You Reign

It's all a matter of perspective.  I had to laugh.  In my previous life as a cardiovascular nurse, I was often paged at the hospital for life threatening emergencies.  Most of them looked something like this.

Now when I am paged, it's a bit different.

At the end of the school day at Rancho, I head to a holding room so I can escort a group of little children to the gate where their parents pick them up.  The other day, I suddenly heard a frantic message from my walkie talkie.

"Miss Debbie, do you have your walkie with you?"

"Yes" I responded.

"Briana is having a meltdown at Gate G.  Do you know where her gray elephant is?"

I chuckled to myself but quickly responded to the call.

"Tell Briana I packed her gray elephant in her backpack."

The result: a calm and much happier three year old girl

My, how my life has changed!  But how thankful I am that God is in control.  I'm learning to walk by faith and take one moment at a time. I'm also beginning to enjoy the moments as I no longer feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders.  Whether the urgent call is for a life threatening problem or simply a lost toy ...I respond quickly and thankful that I can be of some help.

I'm linking up with Amy for Then Sings My Soul Saturday.  I chose the song "God You Reign" by Lincoln Brewster since I heard it several times this week and loved it.  The images in this video are awesome.  But my favorite part is the end with children singing too.  :)

Have a great Saturday!

Blessings and love,

  1. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this Saturday morning, Debbie! Though our "problems" (such as a lost toy) may seem small to some, to the person suffering they are huge. I'm so glad you were there to help.

  2. And our God does reign, whether it is over cardiovascular surgery, or stuffed gray elephants; and everything in between!

    Thanks for the smile. Marsha

  5. Hi Debbie,
    I hope your having a nice weekend!

    I really like what you wrote;
    "My, how my life has changed! But how thankful I am that God is in control."

    When I was a teenager I once read a quote that was in a magazine used as part of the advertisement, it was; " Change Is Life's Only Guarantee"

    I don't know why that stuck with me for so many years, but your post brought it to mind. The only thing is that over the years it has taken on a new meaning to me, and that is;
    "That as I follow my Savior, it's a guarantee that my life will change. Amen!!!! "

    God bless you

  9. Even with all the change our family has gone through this last year, our God remains the same. And He reigns and is fully in control of all things!

  10. That was a wonderful song, and you are so right, the video is awesome.
    right before I checked into your blog, I was working on one of my Bible studies, and wouldn't you know it, one of the scripture readings was Isaia 52:7. Amongst other things it says...."our God reigns!" Isn't He amazing?

    I would appreciate your prayers for my husband who is scheduled for a biopsy tomorrow a.m. (see my Thurs. post)

  13. This is great!! Oh how God's ways are so mysterious...and so much better than we could have ever planned. I love what God is doing in your heart and I enjoyed this song.

    Saturday night I took three of mine to a Christian concert and watched the amazement of my five year old...as he later said to his Dad, "It was Jesus, Jesus and Jesus"

    Thanks for sharing.
