And no, I'm not going to skip it this week. Yes, many of you probably overate yesterday. After all, who can resist turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and oh so much more? I just hope you practiced a bit of portion control.
However, today's a new day. Don't give up trying to make healthy choices just because the holidays are here. That makes it so much harder for the New Year.
You can enjoy a few extras but still not go way overboard on the calories. And get outside and move. You can burn those calories.
- Go for a walk
- Hike a mountain
- Ride your bike
- Dust off your treadmill
- Join a gym
- Take a dance class
Find something you can enjoy and ...just do it!
The giveaway includes a 3 disc set of Healthy Cooking from Food Network. Yes, it can taste good and ...still be healthy.
The featured chefs include:
- Ellie Krieger
- Rachael Ray
- Alton Brown
A few of the dishes they prepare include:
- Tuscan Roasted Chicken and Vegetables
- Lentil Salad and Soup
- Charred Chili Relleno with Green Rice
- Plum Tart with Almond Pastry Crust
All you have to do to be entered is to leave a comment below. I will keep the comments open until Monday morning (early). I'll then figure out the random picker thing or else write numbers and pull them out of a bowl. Anyway, it will be a random thing. Just be sure to provide me with a way to notify you in case you win. If you have a blog and an email there, I will find you but if not give me a clue, OK?
I may even include another surprise in the package! You never know what you'll find. I love surprises!
Why not share something about your Thanksgiving this year? Did you decrease your serving sizes? Or did you go all out and figure you'll exercise more today?
I think we could all use a dose of reality and exhibit some self-control, especially at this time of year. So let's encourage one another.
Ask God to help you make healthier choices. After all, as we spend time in prayer and reading His Word, the fruit of the Spirit becomes more evident in us. And don't forget that self-control is on the list of the fruit of the Spirit.
Check out Sandy's God Speaks Today as I believe she's having a guest post. And Doylene of A Gracious Home has joined us this week so I hope you'll visit her too.
You are so sweet for having a give away.
ReplyDeleteTaking a few hours to read some favorite blogs...one of my favorite things to do and something I have done very little of in recent days. You still have time to stop by my holiday blog and be eligible for 2 great giveaways.....

That is a great giveaway, Debbie. I tried not to eat too much today. I remember stuffing at my grandson's birthday party on Saturday ( did not eat lunch!), and then having my heart show off. I do need to exercise though. Love you ~
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice that you visited my blog earlier. I feels so blessed. I am glad that we met because fitness is something I am just starting to concentrate on. I'm 44 years old and I need to keep healthy.
Happy Holidays!
Yoli
Happy day...after two meal that I did not have to cook ya for me...
ReplyDeleteWell I did see a difference. I ate fewer taste as I cooked, used better judgment with the allergies and when full actually did not even want to eat a desert. I was full and felt it and did not want to get uncomfortable.
Love the give away count me in
I'm probably one of the very few who doesn't overeat on Thanksgiving. Not because I have great "self control" but its just not choice of my favorite foods.
ReplyDeleteBut my having my family together makes up for it. :)
Count me in on the giveaway...thanks.
Oh Deb I did not do nearly as well as I had mapped out in my head. I didn't even come close to eating what I usually would have either though. I landed somewhere in the middle I guess. My plan now is to just jump right back on Jenny today and pretend yesterday didn't happen. The food was FANTATIC (if I do say so myself, haha) and considering MOST of it was completely eaten (little to no left overs) I think others must have liked it too, but the company itself really did make the day. My house will remain with company the rest of the week-end including a BIG birthday party on Sun night for my oldest son, so I am FAR from home free with all of the food temptations, I am not going to lie, it is NOT going to be easy. I think it is going to mean a little extra prayer for sure. I have a feeling (you are soo slim) you probably have a hard time understanding this. But for me, I'd love to say I've conquered this giant, BUT it remaains an issue I discovered AGAIN yesterday. Have a great day Debbie. Enjoy the rest of this week-end, and the give away sounds fantastic.....Hugs, Debbie
