In Other Words Tuesdays

I enjoy participating in the meme "In Other Words Tuesdays". Each week a new quote is posted for us to ponder over the weekend. On Tuesday, we write a post about what it means to us.

It's fun to link to other participating blogs to read their take. I love that we often have different perspectives. It makes life interesting.
This week's "In Other Words Tuesdays" is being hosted by Nina on her blog Mama's Little Treasures. You can link to others there. Our quote for this week is:

I really don't like to be around people who are "know it alls". You know what I'm talking about; the people who have an answer for everything.

You have a problem with something and they always know what's best. Even if they have no experience in that area, they are suddenly an authority.

As far as I'm concerned, I love to learn. I've often said that I made the choice to be a life long learner. No matter how old I am ...I always hope to be learning something new.

So, I guess I don't really have a problem admitting I don't have all the answers. I know I don't. And do you know what? It's a relief!

I'm so glad that I am a child of God and that I can go directly to the Source of all knowledge. I don't have to have all the answers. I don't have to carry the weight of the world or maybe just my family ...on my shoulders.

I have the privilege of:

  • Praying and speaking directly to Almighty God who is Sovereign over all!
  • Reading the Bible which was inspired by God so I would have a roadmap to live my life
  • Sitting in His presence even when I'm in the comfort and privacy of my own home; He hears me, knows my thoughts and even ...the true motives of my heart.
  • Having a relationship with the One who created me, knit me in my mother's womb and knows me better than I ever could
  • Being in a personal relationship with my Savior who created me for His purposes and He even wants me to know what that is (if I'll only wait and listen long enough)

So, as I look at my list, I wonder why anyone would think they have to know it all. The most important thing is having a relationship with the only One who ...truly knows it all.

And that's fine by me. I like to spend time with Him.

I wonder about you. Do you have a teachable spirit or do you tend to feel like you need to have all the answers?

  1. Teachable is the only way to remain because the MOMENT we think we no longer have anything to learn or that we know everything we are assuming a role we have no right or ability to walk in -- the role of PERFECTION and that belongs to One -- GOD who is PERFECTION.

Love the message Sweetie. I am familiar with the quote and the book. I've read/watched and been ministered to by Joyce since 1986.

    Love ya.

  2. I agree with Lisa. We all need to remain teachable and pliable.

I'm with you -- I love to learn and love that we KNOW the Author and Creator of all knowledge.

    Love to you!

  3. Being teachable is an area of struggle for me. I like to be a lone ranger of sorts and figure things out for myself so many times I have to make a conscious effort to be teachable and let someone else know more or better than I do. The Lord knows this about me and fortunately, He is patient! lol

  4. Great post! Remaining teachable is one of my heart desires. While I do love knowing the ending and how things are going to work out, sometimes the fun is in the surprise. Being satisfied trusting in Him is a good feeling.

  5. If I am not learning I am dead. the end.

Seriously we are learning until the Lord takes us home. So NO ONE should be a "know it all" ha! Great post.

  6. Great thoughts! It is important to always be teachable and not have the "better than you" mentality.

I love reading and learning new things. It is always interesting to me when I learn something new unexpectedly and think oh neat, i didn't know that!

  7. I learn much visiting the IOW's . . .
Love your list. You are absolutely right. . . Without the privilege of being teachable and pliable in HIS hands, what's the point???
If we maintain a "know-it-all" position, we are clearly NOT teachable. How then can He use us???
I want to be a woman Jesus can teach and a woman God can use!

    GREAT thoughts here.

  8. Amen! I also love seeing the different directions these quotes take each of us. That, too, reveals more about the One who knows.

  10. Wow!!! this was great. We need to be teachable. We need to be available and ready to receive instruction. Just like when I get frustrated when my kids do not do my directions quickly...I need to follow God's quickly as well. Blessings.
