Writing is a solitary activity. I sit quietly in front of my computer screen sharing from my heart. I am surrounded by photos of people I cherish. I try to keep my writing area neat but it tends to accumulate things for some reason. :)
Writing on my blog isn't lonely for me. I feel like I'm reaching out to friends. And I get to meet many new friends through blogging. When I finish writing a blog post and hit publish, I usually stop to visit other's blogs and leave a comment when I can.
But writing a book?
Now that's lonely!
I struggle with:
- Sitting for much longer periods of time
- Doubts about whether anyone would read it
- Losing many chapters when my computer crashed
STOP
Blessings and love,
You're right... blogging is a solitary activity, but it's not lonely. I've been working on a cookbook, but I'm working with two other bloggers/writers, so even that has been a community project.
ReplyDeleteOther writing--that can definitely be lonely, and I've experienced that. And sometimes that's OK.
I'm a couple people after you in the link-up! Glad I hopped over. :)
Hi Debbie! Your computer crashed with your book on it??? Oh NO! I hope you had it backed up.
ReplyDeleteI agree that blogging is not lonely, the blog community is right there, isn't it? But alone, those little doubts creep in. I bet what you are writing is great. If you have been given something to say, you have to say it! Keep going girl, it's worth the time and tight muscles :)
Happy Friday,
Ceil
So nice to meet you! I'm new here at 5-minute Friday, but I love writing and reading all the posts. Never really lonely in blogland, right? God bless as you travel on the journey today.

So true! I love the blogging community! :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I feel exactly the same about writing a book as if that will ask more of what I am able to give!

I think you hit it in the nail when you say that blogging is a solitary activity yet not lonely. That is why I think we do it. I like the fact that I can reach others, and maybe encourage someone with my bits and snippets found in the posts. So glad I stopped by. And good luck with your book!
