GO
My name is Debbie and I'm a nester. I love to create my space and settle in for the long haul. I love to make a house a home. But I've had to experience two moves in the past three years. That's not something I chose but life happens. I keep waiting for the in between to end so I can finally settle down and ...breathe.
When will I finally arrive? When can I rest in the now? Will I have to move again? When will life get back to normal? Is this going to be my new normal?
And then it hits me. I finally realize that it's all in between. In this life, circumstances happen and life can't always be controlled. I realize that I do have control over something; my response. So I make the choice to rest in the Lord. Even when the path is stormy and I can't see up ahead, I continue to learn to trust Him. I'm never alone in the in between. God is with me every step of the way. And so I breathe ...
STOP
Blessings and love,
I am where you are. Brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've had those same thoughts, too! I've been feeling in-between for several years now. But, then it hits me that "today is the day that the Lord has made..." It is difficult to do, but I have been trying to keep a good balance of living today while still looking forward to the future. The difficult part comes in not getting unsatisfied with today, you know? But, as I face each day with hopeful expectation that God is going to do something Great -- He always does! He's with us in the "in-between"!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joan
Where would you be if you were on the other side of in between?
ReplyDeleteDear Debbie
ReplyDeleteI think it is because these in between times are quite difficult that we experience our Pappa God so much more during those times. Yes, dear friend, we are all just living in the interim at the moment until Jesus takes us home.
Blessings
Mia
I think for me I felt more "IN BETWEEN" as my last child left the nest five years ago and I wondered "what now?" I spent most of my time looking back, or looking ahead wondering (and yes worrying too!) what the future might hold. But as I have settled into my "new normal" I have found that "in between" is really not a bad place to be after-all. For really the first time ever I have spent more time taking each day as it comes and focusing on my here and now. The future is not promised to any of us, so if I miss the "now" think of what I give up. This was a great post Debbie! Enjoy your week-end!
ReplyDeleteOH - yes -we do have control over that response - sometimes I wish I had better self-control in that area:) Hope you find that welcome-home breath soon!
ReplyDelete"In Between" the past and the rest of my life - working on improving me; Then in about 20 years, living the grace filled life (that's when I plan on giving up all control), before joining the celebration with others of Him, with Him.
ReplyDeletePeace and Prayers
Think we all need to learn to live in the "here and now" and now wait for "what's next." You are such an inspiration in how you have handled the "ups and down" of life these past few years.
ReplyDeleteOh, Hanna Beth's instructor does the whole blowing bubbles too and she loves that, but still will not put her face in the water to take off and swim. How funny!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I have learned to just live in the moment, taking it one day at a time. When we project too far into the future we settle into worry and that's definitely not a good thing. I wish you well and here's hoping you can finally settle and breathe deeply soon.
ReplyDeletethis was beautiful. thank you :)
ReplyDeleteWe want so much to be able to be in control don't we? However, when we realize we can't we have to learn to accept and yes even enjoy those in betweens.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth! Thanks for sharing! So glad to know that we're not alone and He's walking right beside us all the way! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo glad that He is always with us, even during the "in-between". And isn't life mostly just in-between this and that: here and there: youth and older age: working and resting: life and the next life. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you.
So beautiful. And God is with us in our in betweens too:)
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing is that you have learned who to hold onto in the "In Between" as He guides you in the present moment....
ReplyDeleteWe all struggle with this issue and you have encouraged us with taking responsibility for our actions whatever the circumstances....
This is beautiful Debbie! I'm so thankful that in those in between times I can have complete rest, if I choose it! Praying you have a beautiful week.
