But back to this Weigh-In Wednesday post about challenges.
Challenges ...do you like them? Or do you tend to stay in your comfort zone?
I have to admit that I find it easy to continue doing the things I normally do. I make my plan and I stick with it. But I want to begin to change things up a bit. So when Kim of At Home with Kim posted about a weekly challenge, I thought to myself 'you can do this Debbie. Yes you can!'.
We have two challenges this week:
- Do at least two planks every day.
- Drink at least 48 ounces of water a day.
Planks
So in case you don't know what a plank is, check out this short video. I started doing them in addition to my daily treadmill exercise.
My routine is to immediately head to my treadmill when I get home from work. My husband knows not to distract me and has my water ready. Thank you Greg!
Water
Our second challenge is one I need to work on. You'd think that since I live in Arizona, I would automatically drink lots of water. In the summer season I drink lots of water but I tend to forget when the weather is cooler. When I get home I start drinking water but then I have to wake up at night a few times. I need to drink more water earlier in the day so I get a good night's sleep.
I wrote about creating habits last week. In case you missed it, you can read all about it here.
Creating healthy habits is so important. But it takes 21 days to form a new habit. I'm working through those 21 days so it becomes automatic.
It's not too late to join in. Be challenged and be accountable. It's actually fun. I'll be writing about my progress each Wednesday so stay tuned. Here's to good health!
Blessings and love,
Good habits, Debbie! I need to get back to my planks now that my foot has healed. And water? That one is now such a habit that I crave it! It's amazing all the ways our bodies tell us when we're dehydrating.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
I love challenges! I used to shy away from them simply because I feared failure. Avoiding was easier than failing - so I thought. In reality, challenges make us so much stronger. I'll be planking right along with you! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm SO glad you are joining in! It'll be a fun way to work toward something as a group!!! I need the water AND the exercise! ;)
ReplyDeleteWater seems to be a challenge for me...I don't know why...I love ice cold water yet I don't drink as much as I should so I am taking your post today to heart and take up the challenge of drinking more water....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.....
Debbie - You are already one of the most "fun" people I know of. And good for you! :)
ReplyDeletePlanks and water, both would be a challenge for me as well. :o) Sounds like you are getting your first 21 days off to a great start. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteOh girl, I had to Google it too! I'm going to try my best to keep up with everyone in the challenge! I am feeling a little lost!
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed being able to stay so focused.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things I cannot do, due to my illness, but I think I can manage the plank and I am already doing the water, t.i. drinking it.
We are blessed with good drinking water and I always keep it in lass bottles in the fridge.
I like the way you are teaching your three yearlings.
I have many areas in which I am challenging myself too Debbie, and even though it is really tempting to stay in the “safety zone”, it is, at the very least, important to try to always have something going that stretches you and makes you grow! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful encouragement here, no matter what our "challenge" may be!
Blessings and lots of hugs girl!
And.....gotta say I am envious of your warm and delightful weather over there in AZ!!! :)
Denise
Hello, I am stopping by from Kim's WIW link up. I just discovered it myself.
ReplyDeleteI've never done planks before, however, I'm ready to try one tomorrow! And it's so true about needing to make different & better habits. 21 days seems like a long time somedays, however, I know that once those habits are in place it will be AWESOME. I look forward to taking on this journey with you, and maybe stepping out of my own comfort zone to try some challenges as well!
