Thanksgiving Blessings

Google image: Norman Rockwell
Thanksgiving is a time to count your blessings.  As I gaze at this Norman Rockwell image, everything looks so perfect.  A family gathered together with smiles on their faces.  I don't know about you but my life isn't all that perfect.

Not all families can get together.  Not all families get along.  But there are still many blessings that we can focus our attention on even when life isn't perfect.

Our class of three year old children were so excited to make turkeys out of cardboard paper and paper plates.

I got a chuckle out of Ava's too large uniform with the boots.  I think she spent the night at her dad's house.  :)

I love the little hands and feet of the children.  They are too cute!

And I'm amazed at the positions they are able to maintain and ...be comfortable.

My niece Kristin is 16 weeks pregnant.  She and her husband Kevin are so excited about their little jellybean.  Doesn't she look so cute?

  2. Thank you Debbie for starting out that most of us don't have that picture perfect Thanksgiving...a lot of hurt has already been felt in our household this year because of an adult child's bad choices...and yet, we still give Thanks, we still hug each other and go forward, we still remember what is precious.

Thanks for the reminder and for the precious pictures...I am leaving in a few minutes to do the Thanksgiving lunch at Benjamin's school.

Your students are so blessed to have you.

    Happy Thanksgiving...my precious blogging friend

  3. Such a wise reminder! I fear that all too many people dread the holidays for the sad or difficult things they drum up.

No matter ... there is always something for which to give thanks; and I love your list & images! Add a child to any scene and it becomes pure joy :)

  4. You are so right! There is so much to be thankful for! This year, we are having Thanksgiving several days early (tomorrow) due to our son's work schedule. However, only part of the family will be here. I have the tendency to reminisce over past Thanksgivings, when our house was full and little children ran all over. But, though those memories are precious, I know that God wants me to be thankful for what He is doing today. It is such a blessing to be His! Happy Thanksgiving, Debbie! I pray for many blessings to you and Greg!

  7. Hi Debbie:

I've often wished for that "picture perfect" family like in the Rockwell picture. However, families aren't perfect, but I'm thankful for mine.

I love your photos of the children - if I got into one of those positions, I would never be able to move again! :)

Blessings to you and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

  10. It's so easy to focus on circumstances going on around us but the truth is...there are truly so much to be thankful for! He deserves our praises and thanks! He is true to His promises. Great pics and what fun you have with the little ones. Little ones but sometimes have great lessons for us to learn! How exciting that your niece is expecting!!! Thank you for this reminder...to have a grateful attitude no matter what goes on in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving to you sister! God bless and love you in Christ.

  12. Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Arizona blogger! Loved your lists and your kids. When you made the comment about your lost ring I was thinking of the guy who had to dig through tons of trash and found his wife's engagement ring! Imagine that! He did that....Lori

  15. Debbie, Just stopping by a few days late - actually, t-day has come and gone. Absolutely, families aren't picture perfect, but we keep trying. But even in our imperfect condition, there is so much to be thankful for as your sweet blog so often reminds us.
    Blessings my dear friend.
PS NOw what did Greg get you for your anniversary? Did I miss that?
