IOWT ~ God's Timing

It's In Other Words Tuesday.  I'm linking up with Deborah of Chocolate and Coffee.

Here's the quote Deborah chose for us to write about this week:

When I first read this quote, I realized I had to participate this week.  Right now, this is such a huge challenge for me.  It's so easy for me to run on ahead of God.  After all, it only makes sense to do something, right?

But sometimes the Lord seems to allow me to continue in a trial even when I think I've learned the lesson.  My temptation is to question why.  But His timing is perfect and His ways are so much higher than mine.

So, I learn to live by faith and ...not by sight.

But what does that involve?

TRUST

For me, that's a struggle.  But I long to learn to trust.  I must not give in to my feelings.  Instead, I make the daily and sometimes momentary choice to ...wait and trust God.

And in the midst of the waiting, I also learn ...
  • Patience
  • Dependence upon Him
  • To view life differently
  • To be sensitive to others who are suffering
  • To realize that this life is an opportunity to glorify God
So I make the choice to WAIT on God's timing.  And I'm learning to praise Him in the midst of the storm.

How about you?  Are you running ahead or resting in the Lord, trusting His ways and His timing?

Blessings and love,

  1. I am waiting and resting as there
is really nothing else I can do.
I love the quote from Francis
    Frangipane, "Rest before rule,
    peace before power."
    Hope you're still enjoying the
    kids and doing well.
    Love,

  2. Amen! - one moment at a time Debbie - keeping our eyes up in all situations being willing to praise Him no matter what and trusting that He will take care of us perfectly!

    Love you!

  3. It's hard not to get ahead of ourselves let alone God. I'm glad He is patient with us while we learn patience ourselves and the ability to trust.

  4. You're right, we learn so much through waiting. It's not fun or easy but I love it when God does something big and uses the waiting to teach us along the way!

Hope you have a blessed day sweet friend!

  5. This has been a life long dilemma for me. I am always hurrying ahead. Especially now with Mel and the coming baby. We will have to just WAIT and trust like never before. Have a wonderful day Debbie. HUGS

  6. I love how you focused on trusting God as a choice! That is so true! Right now I'm going through Kathy Howard's online study on the book of Hebrews and in chapter 4 (where we are right now) that is exactly what we are learning! God has proved Himself faithful over and over...I don't know why I sometimes, even now doubt. So, I need to simply trust! I am choosing today to trust God's promises and to trust His timing.

Thanks for this post, Debbie. It was exactly what I needed to hear (God knew that already, didn't He?)

    Blessings, Joan

  7. Debbie - So true - "it only makes sense to do something, right?"

But sometimes God says, "Wrong. I do not want you to DO something, I want you to BE something - something more than you now can imagine - and thus He asks us to trust Him.

    God bless you, Marsha

  8. Waiting on God has always been difficult for me, too. Learning to praise in the wait has been helpful, but I still have a long way to go!

  10. Dear Debbie,
Waiting for God is and always has been a major problem to me.
Sometimes I've had for years until God found me ready to get a yes to my prayers.
Oh, there are answers I still am waiting for..
Little by little I am learning that God is not slow to hear; it's I who am slow to learn.
God has lessons He wants me to learn, He will not let me go further until I have learned.
Oh, I have flunked 1st grade over and over again.

This last weeks I have also witnessed God answering prayers
about in the minute they were prayed. A friend on the operation table and son of another friend about being bankrupt.
Both were wonderfully saved, even after the bell had sounded.

No, our loving Lord is not slow nor deaf.
He's the shadow by our right hand. This close!
    Hallelujah.
    Yours Felisol

  15. Loved how you worded everything - I'm currently waiting on God but always feel this need to *do* things instead of being still and knowing that He is God - instead of as you said, trusting. Still working on that! Thanks for this post and I hope you have a blessed week!

  16. These are great questions you ask. What is it that I am learning during the waiting? If God is "delaying," then there must be something He wants me to learn in the process.

    Good thoughts here!

  18. Debbie:

The waiting is always hard for me too, but I always know that He isn't late, I am just impatient, and in the process He has so much still to teach me.

    Love you sis!

  19. Great post Debbie! I can't tell you how many times I've had to "go around the mmountain again" when I thought I had learned the lesson the Lord was trying to teach me. Larning to wait and trust is the hardest thing for me! Thanks for this reminder.
