Thankful For Prayer

I'm so thankful for prayer.

This morning I was reading from the devotional "Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presenceby Sarah Young.

When things seem to be going all wrong, stop and affirm your trust in Me. Calmly bring these matters to Me, and leave them in My capable hands.  Then, simply do the next thing.  Stay in touch with Me through thankful, trusting prayers, resting in My sovereign control.  Rejoice in Me -- exult in the God of your salvation!  As you trust in Me, I make your feet like the feet of a deer.  I enable you to walk and make progress upon your high places of trouble, suffering, or responsibility.

I let the words sink in.  Hmm ...there seems to be a repeating pattern in my life lately. I'm learning to trust God and to walk by faith.

When I don't know what will happen next, I'm learning that I am in His capable hands.

How thankful I am to have friends and blogging sisters who join in and pray for me and with me.  We are a caring community.  I'm forever grateful for the friendships that have blossomed.

I'm beginning to feel better and to have hope.

Recently I've noticed a recurring theme on several of your blogs.  It had to do with intimacy and drawing closer to the Lord.  I want to start splashin' glory as Sara writes.

I believe the Lord is doing some mighty pruning in my life and it's kind of painful at times.  But it will be worth it.  I want to learn the lessons that are necessary for me to grow.

The Hip Hostess

Look at what I received in the mail yesterday.  I won a giveaway on Melissa's blog The Inspired Room.  You must stop by and visit her.  You will be inspired.  She has so many ideas for creating a warm and welcome home.

I love the apron and tea towel to match.  The pink color is so feminine.  Greg loved it on me.  :)

Uh, oh maybe I'll have to go back to cooking again.  I really don't mind and we've been taking turns.

Thank you Melissa!  And check out The Hip Hostess for the cutest aprons.  They make great gifts.

Blessings and love,

Debbie Petras

  1. Thank you Debbie. This is exactly in line with what I faced this week, further growing especially trusting to leave things in His hands.

I love the apron. Congratulations. I look forward to visiting those blogs you recommend.

    Have a love Friday.

  2. Love the apron! You look cute in it!

I'm so thankful for you and your precious heart!

    Much love,

  3. I think God is teaching you and me the same lessons! I'm still learning to trust Him in all that comes my way, but He is helping me as I grow! Thanks for sharing...and congrats on winning the very cute pink apron!!

  4. Great post, so true! What a neat gift you received in the mail, such a pretty apron and tea towel! Lucky you!

  5. Friday greetings to you Debbie, Love this post-it would seem many of us are walking by faith not by sight.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend from BSF; praying for her family. Loved the photo of Carmel-when we lived in northern Ca. we loved that area.
Hugs and prayers to you today.

  6. Intimacy with the Lord is
what it's all about for me.
He is my life, my strength,
    hope, everything. Without
Him I can do nothing. When
    we really learn to fully
rely on Him, He shows Himself
    strong on our behalf. He
    takes us from victory to
    victory. I'm glad to read
    this post today that you're
    feeling stronger and in time
you will feel the pain begin
to leave. I lost a member of
    my family about every year
for five years. It was almost
    unbearable...BUT GOD. He
    carried me through. His love
    never fails.
(I saw on Melissa's blog that
    you'd won the apron--congrats!)

  7. Dear Debbie...yes...the Lord is teaching us to "unlearn" the way conventional wisdom "tells us" to get through life~~(To HOLD ON TO OUR GRIP) but HE's telling us to LET GO and trust Him.
I'm so thankful you won the give-away too! God is good, even giving special little "extra-somethings" as a way to show you He's got His eye on every detail of your life. Three words that have meant so much to me over the years. God whispers these three words, "Just trust Me."
    Enjoy your weekend! :)

  8. Love the apron!

That devotion was the same one I read this morning. Trust is sometime hard for me even when I know God is in control.

  9. "Learning to lean"...that song is in my head now...and the Lord is such a compassionate teacher....

    Congrats on the cute prize!

  10. It is amazing how prayer works. How can one being give someone such calmness when they are stressed to the max. Just amazing!

  11. I love your thoughts. That is really what we need to do. Just turn everything over to Him and do the next thing.

  12. You have definitely been in an uncomfortable season my friend.

I love love love your apron. So feminine and cute -- just like you!

  13. I continually have to remind myself that my life is not in my hands, but in the very capable and loving hands of the Lord. I am also learning to trust. It is not easy, because most days I think it's something that I will do/say that will make it all better. But then I find myself up against a wall with no one to talk to and no where to go, so where do I turn. To where my help comes from. So many are in hard seasons, but He has promised that He is with us and will bring us through. Glad you are feeling better!

  14. Been going through a lot of pruning myself; so I know how you feel my sweet friend. Prayer is powerful and it helps me to refocus on things.

The apron looks so super cute on you, Debbie.

Thank you so much for sharing your thankfulness with us.

    Love & peace,
    <>< Iris

  15. Just stopping by. Glad I can pray with you and for you.

  16. I'm so glad you won it! It looks so pretty on you.

I'm thankful for you, my blogging sister and faith sibling, too.

We are learning together! It makes the journey so much better. Thankful for you, Debbie!
