Cooking and Love

What does LOVE look like in your home?

Love is in the air at my home again this week!  I was on the lookout for it.

This is Greg and my dad.  Another reason ...love is in the air.

It's really been a very challenging season for Greg and me.

But cooking and love?

Greg took the time and effort to make me several meals this week.  He's so creative and never uses recipes.  He's the master of taking leftovers and whipping up the most tasty food you can imagine.  A little of this, a little of that ...and yummy!

On Saturday morning, he made me breakfast in bed with eggs, pancakes and sausage.  I know it's not the lowest calorie meal but it was made with love

Greg loves to use the crockpot because he can really gook it all up.  He made a fabulous stew that will last for a few more meals.  Thank you honey!

Love was also demonstrated as Greg sat with me and watched my favorite movie for the upteenth time.  It is "Chariots of Fire".

Whenever it gets to my favorite line in the movie, Greg looks over at me when I say "God made me fast.  And when I run ...I feel His pleasure."

Now, I have to reciprocate and watch all of the Rocky movies with Greg.  But I guess that's part of LOVE, isn't it?

If you have any stories of love to share this week, link over to Joanne at One So Blessed.

Blessings and love,

  1. Now that is LOVE!

As Scott is teaching our children the last couple of weeks - it is a VERB not a feeling.

    Love you,
    Jill :-)

  2. Oh I so love what Jill said above! "It's a verb not a feeling." What I often say is love is an action word.

What a beautiful message dear friend.

Loved the photo and I had to smile what you shared about the movies. That's me and hubby but with different movies then what you mentioned but isn't that good love?!!! Sitting together through each others movies. I love it!

Hubby often says to me, "I know you're getting ready to cry so here's my shoulder babe". It cracks me up because he knows the parts I cry at during the movie.

I love you! I'm a little scarce from blogging during the summer but I love ya!

  4. Good morning Debbie! I LOVED this post. What a good idea for a meme..I'd love to join in but I have such a busy day ahead I am afraid it won't happen. But you are soo right of course. Love is an action word and love is a choice. Your husband chose to serve you breakfast in bed (sounded wonderful btw) and chose to watch your movie with you, and chose to serve you and chose to bless you and love you. And you chose to love and bless him right back. I tried to teach my kids that love is not just a "feeling" that exists many times, but a "choice" we make to do and show and experience. I laugh about your movie experiences with Greg. Mine are soo similiar with my hubby. We take turns. haha I do love it sometimes when we BOTH love the movie, but doesn't happen very often. Have a good day. Thanks for making think of how I can show love today...HUGS, Debbie

  12. Now THAT is impressive!! Tell Greg his kitchen skills and the fact that he served you breakfast in bed gets HUGE points from this house!!

I think my last breakfast in bed had cherry kool aid and maybe peanut butter and jelly, I can't even remember, it's been so long! I think I will read this one to my hubby and maybe spark a new idea!! :)

    Good job Greg!!

  19. Dear Debbie,
To walk in your landscape is a blessing and a sermon in itself.
I bet your Greg knows exactly how much you appreciate his efforts to make you happy, and that is keeping on inspiring him to new achievements.

It's this way a relationship can develop to new heights, while climbing the steep hills of life.

There are so many things we can manage without.
So many false needs, which actually aren't needs at all, but cynical consumer industry.

Love, on the other hand, is the most valuable treasure we cannot live without.
May we never be fooled to accept the many phony replacements, but throw unnecessary cargo overboard, to maintain "the real ting".
    Like wonderful breakfast in bed.

(Funny thing is, I only yesterday said to Gunnar and Serina, when serving dinner, "This is my way of literally giving you love.")
Must have been about the same time Greg was serving you the wonderful breakfast.

  20. Hey, John can make toast! LOL He's not really much of a cook, but when he does serve me something, it is so sweet. I'm smiling as I think of him coming with his tray, actually the thing that makes me smile is how he looks. Perhaps I share on another day.
I'm glad Greg makes you meals and watches Chariots of Fire with you. Actually, our first date was to see "Chariots of Fire."
