The quote for this week is:
I've found there are seasons in life. And not all of those seasons are fun and carefree. Psalm 23 says:
"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
How often I wished the Lord would lead me in a different path because sometimes life can be hard. But since He is my shepherd, He knows what's best for me and so I follow.
There are seasons when it may be for my good to be alone and to experience loneliness. It seems those are the times when I learn to depend more on Him and grow closer to Him. He fills my cup each day and ...He is sufficient.
People may disappoint us but ...God never does.
If I'm constantly filling my life with activity and busyness, I may never learn how dependable and faithful the Lord really is. So, I'm grateful for the gift of loneliness because those are the times when I learn to cling even closer to my Abba Daddy.
Amen, amen.
ReplyDeleteOften I, too, wish for a different path. But he does know the path he leads me on, so I accept it. Beautiful post my dear.
ReplyDeleteTrue Debbie. The valley is where the richest soil resides. We grow in those places.

Sometimes I simply remind myself - no pain, no gain!
ReplyDeleteWithout trials our faith cannot grow!
Without times of sorrow - we lose the beauty of joy!
Without times of need - we would become ungrateful of the time we have plenty!
Love and blessings today!

I actually welcome lonliness and solitude in the season of life I'm in. I embrace it as a time for the Lord to weed out what no longer works or is no longer needed so He can make room for new growth.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good attitude toward loneliness which can be a painful place, but you are right...God meets us there!
ReplyDeleteAmen. Those seasons are sometimes so we can see and desire more of him.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your post today it made me think of how we are afraid sometimes to be alone. We don't need to be afraid. Sometimes we need that alone time to get in touch with Jesus. Thanks for sharing today.
ReplyDeleteOH! ... how well put! I think -- even as Christians -- we are afraid of loneliness. It's almost a sign of weakness. It's hard in this culture to remember that in our weakness that HE is made strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
ReplyDeleteYou are right, God never disappoints. How secure we can feel in knowing that.
ReplyDelete"If I'm constantly filling my life with activity and busyness, I may never learn how dependable and faithful the Lord really is."
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said.
Love you.
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI love this. Everyone thinks of loneliness as a terrible thing but I find in the quiet times of my life...I can hear the Lord ever so clearly and press in so closely!
PS...I'm grabbing your button too! We are button grabbers! Why I think that is hysterical is beyond me! lol
Amen--HE IS SUFFICIENT! Now if only we learned that lesson quickly and didn't have to keep going through the experiences that convince us.
ReplyDeleteSo very true, Debbie. It's hard to remember in the midst of lonliness, but as I look back on those times, what you (and Max L.) said is so true. Praising God for His faithfulness... and praying for you, my friend...Jennifer
