Then Sings My Soul Saturday ~ To God Be The Glory

Today is Saturday so it's Then Sings My Soul Saturday. You can link to Amy's Signs, Miracles and Wonders to join this fun blog hop. You'll find a variety of songs to listen to and sing along ...if you like.

I have to share a little bit before you see the video I chose this week. I hope you don't mind.

I was working in my backyard this week. I live in Phoenix and we're having triple digits temps right now. All of the flowers around our pool had died and the backyard looked terrible. So, I pulled out the old and planted the new.

What a difference! Although this photo was taken in my backyard, it's an older photo. My camera has been acting up lately and the photos I took of the new flowers were blurry.

The whole time I was trying my bit at gardening, a song was playing over and over in my head. I don't sing very well but I couldn't seem to help myself. After all, nobody else could hear but the Lord and so I sang aloud as I worked.

By the time I finished, I was so hot that I jumped in the pool with my clothes on!

But I kept singing "To God Be The Glory". I knew I needed to post this older hymn on TSMSS. I checked out YouTube and found this version which for me ...is perfect!

Sissel is a famous Norwegian singer who comes from Bergen. She has a beautiful voice and is accompanied by the Oslo Gospel Choir. I hope you will enjoy this song and that ...it will play over and over in your head too!

  1. Dear Debbie,
Thanks for sharing this-to me unknown hymn.
I always find that when I start praising ,I am the one being blessed.
I'd also would have liked a picture/video of you bathing fully clothed, singing this song.
You for certain must have made God smile.
Sissel has for 24 years been a part of the Norwegian sound and soul.
You can't go wrong with her and her golden voice.

  6. I miss the old hymns. Our church does more contemporary music for praise and worship and I like them ok but sometimes I just want one of the old songs.

  8. First: thanks for sharing some of you day-to-day life with us. The image of you jumping in the pool fully dressed: wonderful!

Second:You are right. Her voice is beautiful. I had never heard of her.

Third: I have never heard this hymn. I sang a bunch growing up that I have "fogotten" until I hear them, then I remember. I am pretty sure this was not one of them. It is so pretty! We recently had a "retooling" at our church, so to speak, and lately they have been leading worship with more hymns, but they are reworking the rhythem to be ever-so-slightly more modern. Not a lot, and the integrity of the original is still intact. It has been great re-visiting some of my growing up song.

    Have a great week!

  16. Been such a busy week, but am so glad I stopped by to hear the song. Hubby came in and listened with me...it was a blessed moment as we had just come back from Bible Study. Yes, "to God be the glory."
When I read your story, I was quite moved. I remember our conversation the day you planted the flowers. To think of you out there in that heat singing "To God be the Glory," is such a strong testimony of your faith in Him. Surely that day you were performing for an audience of One, and although Sissle did a wonderful job, I believe God must have smiled at the beautiful voice He heard truly singing a love song to Him God bless you my friend.
