Five Minute Friday: Send

It's Five Minute Friday when I link up with Kate Motaung. We are given a one word writing prompt and get to write for five minutes flat. Our word for today is: send.

GO

The words we speak matter. They can cut down or build up. They can hurt or encourage others. It can be all too easy to send out the wrong message when emotions run high.

"For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." Matthew 12:34

"Words are powerful. Take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation." Matthew 12:34 MSG

As a Christian, my words matter. If I am filled with the Holy Spirit and spend time in the Word, they should overflow in my daily life. I want to speak words of love; words of encouragement.

But there are moments when I'm surprised what can come out of my mouth. A driver cuts me off in traffic and almost causes a collision. A false accusation. There are times when the words I send out are not such a blessing.

So I take words seriously. I remember how He sends me out into this world to shine His light wherever I go.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14 (ESV)

STOP

Blessings and love,

  4. This was a great post Deb and a subject I need to spend more time meditating on. I soo want my life and words to encourage others and hopefully be an inspiration to know Him. How quickly we can open our mouths and have things come out when moved in anger or frustration. We must renew those minds EVERYDAY with the joy and strength we find in His word. Have a good week-end, and thank you for these thoughts today. They have definitely encouraged me to think more before I speak!

  6. Hi Debbie! I love that last Scripture you quoted. Linda Ronstadt sings that so beautifully.
It's a grace to know that you want to send out positive and encouraging words into the noise pollution of our everyday lives. May God keep you in his hand, and bring you the peace you need to accomplish your goal.
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  8. Amen and I too want the words of my mouth to be from the Spirit and not my flesh. Good word!
