The words we speak matter. They can cut down or build up. They can hurt or encourage others. It can be all too easy to send out the wrong message when emotions run high.
"For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." Matthew 12:34
"Words are powerful. Take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation." Matthew 12:34 MSG
But there are moments when I'm surprised what can come out of my mouth. A driver cuts me off in traffic and almost causes a collision. A false accusation. There are times when the words I send out are not such a blessing.
So I take words seriously. I remember how He sends me out into this world to shine His light wherever I go.
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14 (ESV)
Blessings and love,
Great message, Debbie. Psalm 19:14 is part of my prayer before getting in my car each morning.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - so glad to reconnect after my online break. LOVE this post. I'm facing a situation today that I will take this message to heart with. Our words. So important!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful thoughts. May the words of our mouth send out encouragement today & every day! Visiting from FMF :)
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post Deb and a subject I need to spend more time meditating on. I soo want my life and words to encourage others and hopefully be an inspiration to know Him. How quickly we can open our mouths and have things come out when moved in anger or frustration. We must renew those minds EVERYDAY with the joy and strength we find in His word. Have a good week-end, and thank you for these thoughts today. They have definitely encouraged me to think more before I speak!
ReplyDeleteThings we can't take back...ugh!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Thanks for your honesty!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie! I love that last Scripture you quoted. Linda Ronstadt sings that so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteIt's a grace to know that you want to send out positive and encouraging words into the noise pollution of our everyday lives. May God keep you in his hand, and bring you the peace you need to accomplish your goal.
Blessings,
Ceil
Great thoughts that we all needed to hear. Yes, the words we send out affect someone somewhere and we need to remember that. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteAmen and I too want the words of my mouth to be from the Spirit and not my flesh. Good word!
