Open your eyes. What do you see?
Do you have temporal vision for the here and now?
Or do you have eternal vision that comes by faith?
It can be so easy to get caught up in feelings and circumstances. After all, we're only human.
But God calls us to trust Him.
I recall some years ago when I used to climb up the mountain behind my home. I was in good shape so at that time it was easy for me to do. When I got to the top, I had a great view of Phoenix. I could see all the way to downtown. I always looked for the steeple of my church in the distance. I would sit down and pray and then climb down the mountain.
On the way down the mountain, I often asked for God to open my eyes; the eyes of my heart. I asked that He help me to see people as He saw them. Help me to look past the outward appearance to the heart. Help me to truly see the needs around me and in this hurting world.
I want this to continue to be my prayer. My circumstances may have changed and my surroundings look different. But open my eyes Lord. Help me to see with Your eyes of love.
I'm linking up with Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday.

Blessings and love,
What great encouragement! I love the words you've shared this morning. Thank you for challenging me.
ReplyDeleteTo see others as He sees them...surely the only way we can do this is for Him to show us because in our fallen state there's no chance for us to do this alone....Thank you for reminding me to constantly ask this of the Father so I may show His love and acceptance to all I meet.....
ReplyDeleteAmen Debbie, its the greatest challenge we all face as Christians . . .not to be swept up in the outward of circumstances but remain heavenly focused through His lens of grace. And I love that mountain and that Valley of the Sun. My mother in law was here with us at the beach for a month and just went back home to the desert. Hear it getting hot! Bless you.
ReplyDeleteTo see things with eyes like His is a wonderful prayer! We may not always understand the how's or why's of things, but we can trust our God to always lead us on the right path! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteLovely imagery. I am in Phoenix as well, and I know the view you speak of.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Debbie! I think we need to all pray to have our eyes opened each and every day. Otherwise, we tend to loose site of Him and His will for our lives.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are off to a good start to your summer.
Blessings!
What a great follow-on, companion piece to perspective. I often wonder how much I'm missing simply because I'm not looking or don't see.
ReplyDeleteTime on the mountain with God is never wasted! Perspective is rich up there... Oh to carry it down with us in the valley below.
ReplyDeleteI love the view from your lens, sister.
peace~elaine
