I have a huge to-do list.
- I need time to refresh since I'm tired.
- I need to get all of the boxes unpacked since we moved.
- I have friends I want to visit.
- I want to lose weight and get back in shape.
- I want to cook nutritious meals.
- I want to plant an herb garden.
- I want to add more rose bushes out front.
- I need to hang my pictures.
- I want to write my eBook.
- I have so many blog posts in my head.
- I want to visit my blogging friends' blogs.
- I want to organize my work space which has become much smaller with this move.
- I need to complete our family budget.
- I want to spend fun time with my husband.
The list could go on and on but I won't bore you with all the details. I need to get my priorities straight.
I need help!
But I already know where to go and what to do.
I recently wrote a devotional for Laced with Grace on patience. Patience isn't really something to work on. As a Christian, I need to stay connected to the Vine. As I spend time in His Word, prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit ...the fruit of the Spirit will become a byproduct in my life.
So what do I do first on my to-do list?
I begin each day with a quiet time.
I ask God to order my day and my time. I don't want to miss out on those Divine appointments He has prepared for me because I'm too busy to notice.
How about you? Are you so obsessed with completing your to-do list that you have no time to spend time with the Lord? Do you send those SOS prayers in your time of need but forget to spend time praising Him and thanking Him?
Will you consider reordering your day? I know I need to begin ...today.
Blessings and love,
This is so good Debbie. I really like your list, and the choices you are making. It's like someone said, 'I'm too busy NOT to begin each day with the Lord'.
ReplyDeleteLove you.
Sonja
I can SO relate to this post, Debbie. I had a little panic yesterday when I thought about all the things I "need" to do. I'm sorting through them one by one, but trying to keep that time with the Lord as a priority, and not squeezed out by lesser things. Thanks for your faithfulness to him.
ReplyDeleteGood reminder. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePraying for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post Debbie; you have quite a to do list to accomplish but I have no doubt you will succeed in checking off every item! Setting our priorities to begin each day with the Lord and follow His direction is always the best way to begin and end each day; thankful for this great reminder! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs friend,

Good morning! I soo get this post! It's funny how we find the time for the things we consider to be MOST important, and yet so quickly neglect our time with the Lord. And yet, WHAT could be more important? In the last couple of years I have finally put that into prospective....what a difference it makes in my mental and emotional attitude, not to mention spiritually. How I wish I had not neglected that so when I was younger and had soooo much to do.....If there was one thing I could convince my kids of (especially now as adults) it would be of the importance of this, irregardless of how busy they are. Great post Debbie...Hope you have a good week, and get done the things you need to get done. HUGS!!
ReplyDeletethis is such a great encouragement, and yes, i am busy,
ReplyDeletebut NOT as busy as you! you will get everything done
that He helps you with.
i will be praying for you!
Debbie - some good insights in this one. Bless you as you "order your day."
ReplyDeleteSomeone once told me that there is "always enough time to do everything God wants us to do." :)
Blessings to you - Marsha

WOW, amazing how much our posts are alike....Girlfriend, I am sure under God's guidance that both of us will accomplish exactly what He has for us this summer....Exacting isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, visiting you from Lisa's place. And as God would have it your post is just the push I need to set things in order. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteHello Sweet Debbie! Oh Sister, I can relate! And since it is pouring rain here, I didn't get my time out on the deck with the Lord. As soon as I got up, my husband did too. Ha. But I desperately need that time.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of you outside with your Bible.
Sorry I don't get a chance to visit often. :o(
Love you,
Beth
