Opportunity to Trust

Trust and obey has been my theme for 2010.

In the midst of challenging circumstances, the Lord is giving me opportunities to ...trust Him.

On Wednesday afternoon, a transformer exploded in the backyard.  With triple digit temps in Phoenix, we lost all power for four hours.  Both Greg and I were in the midst of our work (on our computers, of course) and they suddenly shut down.  All power was gone!

For the next few very hot hours we watched as cranes were lowered into the yard to remove and then replace the burned out transformer.

Frankly, Greg and I didn't have time to deal with this.  But we were told that we were very fortunate.  Exploding transformers can be very dangerous.

So instead of being annoyed, I choose ...to be thankful.

How interesting that I was just reading a devotional from Sarah Young's "Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence".  Let me share a short excerpt with you:

"I am the firm foundation on which you can dance and sing and celebrate My Presence. This is my high and holy calling for you; receive it as a precious gift.  Glorifying and enjoying Me is a higher priority than maintaining a tidy, structured life.  Give up your striving to keep everything under control -- an impossible task and a waste of precious energy."

I think the Lord has a sense of humor.

Do I like to maintain a tidy and structured environment?

You betcha!

But He is giving me plenty of opportunities to ...trust Him.

Through each challenge that comes my way, I make the choice as to how I respond.  And I'm choosing to trust Jesus.

Blessings and love,

  2. Very well said. I liked how you said you chose to be thankful etc. We really do choose how we will react to things.
I have this quote that I love. It says:
"One cannot truly love God until one trusts his decisions totally, without arrogance and without complaint." Blaine Yorgason

  5. Amen...it's all about our choices...

That excerpt is a good one...the Lord knows the many times I wasted precious energy trying to keep everything in life neat and tidy...only to find out AGAIN it is impossible to do...

I am so glad our God is so patient and merciful with us....

  6. Debbie ~ yes the Lord has a sense of humor but I also see how HE is strengthening Your Trust in HIM! I love it when HE allows us the opportunity to CHOOSE HIS ways and not allow our flesh to rule and reign!

Sooo glad it only took the afternoon to be fixed! That really could have been WORSE

    Happy Friday my friend

Question: when you put your blog on FB do you control it or does every post appear?????

  11. Amen to that, Debbie. Well, I like an ordered life, but in most cases it does not work my way. I can spend the energy to work off my booty, but really, is it worth it. I personally think it is more worth to trust Him for the outcome of certain situations.

I am sorry though that you had to live without A/C right now, but I also think that we than appreciate more the things of comfort. Our son's A/C was out for 3 days last weekend...

Have a blessed weekend, my sweet friend.

  15. I so love your heart of transparency and love for the LORD!! Thank you for a message that speaks to the core. You always bless me!

Your message reminded me of this song:
"Trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus is to trust and obey."

    I love you!
