But if you consider your future, I believe it's important to examine your day to day choices. After all, they determine what your tomorrows become. I coined that phrase when I was working with heart patients. As a cardiovascular nurse specialist, part of my job was to educate them about making healthier lifestyle choices.
We make choices in every area of our lives.
Consider some of the choices you get to make:
- Hold a grudge or forgive someone who wronged you
- Complain about what you don't have or be thankful for every day blessings
- Question where God is or praise and thank Him for His love and mercy
- Become impatient with a slow sales clerk or smile and tell her to have a good day
- Avoid spending money you don't have or charge it
- Pop open that can of soda or drink a glass of water
- Clench your jaw or take a few deep breaths
- Sit and do nothing or go for a walk
- Complain or pray, pray, pray
- Give advice not asked for or simply listen
We may not get to choose all of our situations but we can choose our response.
What choices can you make that will move you towards a better future?
I'd love to read your comments.
Blessings and love,

Good morning! Hadn't really thought about this like this before, but you are soo right. MANY choices every day....how about to gossip or to keep silent? or to eat that extra portion, or to stop? to watch the questionable movie or pick up a Christian novel? This could go on and on couldn't it, haha? It's all about choices. Enjoy your day Debbie!
ReplyDeleteBeing more grateful and thankful for what I have. Grumbling and complaining are too often my default response when things don't go exactly as planned
ReplyDeleteExcellent insights, Debbie. Those "simple" day to day choices make up our life!
ReplyDeleteI need to make the choice to NOT feel so hurried. It's an unnecessary attitude that I don't need to carry with me. Jesus who had the MOST work to do, didn't seem harried; he went about doing his work with peace and love, not in a panic "I've got to get it all done today!"
Thanks, friend. Hope you have a marvelous day! Love you.
You have mentioned some very good choices and the list is really endless. I think of all these choices mentioned from you and your readers the one that comes to my mind immediately is already listed above by Lisa. I so often feel a need to hurry things up. This could be in every day errands, chores, whatever. I also am guilty of sometimes wanting the Lord to hurry up and answer prayers.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sandy
You ask some pretty hard questions."Clench your jaw or take a few deep breaths." I have to admit my jaw aches now and then, trying to keep my wild tongue still.
ReplyDeleteOf course I agree with you, and I am consciously trying, but often failing to make the right choices. It's not like one has a lot of time to decide. They must be exercised and come like bone marrow reflections when the tempter pops up at the most inconvenient places.
The Bible verses which comes to mind is,Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
If I cannot boast to master it, this must be my goal.
Hi Debbie, I sure have missed you and appreciate so much your comments on both my blog and FB.....You are a dear and sweet friend....
ReplyDeleteYour post today is so important....I think we take so much for granted and often don't think about how we are reacting to life's circumstances and how that's affects our tomorrows....Just as you said we may not control some of our circumstances but we certainly control how we react to them....Thanks for your words of wisdom...
Debbie; our choices to be happy in any situation are so important to a life of happiness and thankfulness! It isn't always very easy to choose to be be thankful in every situation, but when I do grumble and complain, thank goodness I can turn it around as I listen to Gods words and wisdom. Whatever would I do without that "voice" inside my heart? :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post my friend!
it's so simple when you arrange it that way.
ReplyDeletethe hard part is making the right choice!
Choices... sisters just think alike! :) These make up such a good list Debbie, and every one of them apply to me too. Yep, we're on the same page here!
ReplyDeleteLove you sis!
Thinking of all the reason I can, rather than all the reasons I can't. Yes, this list could go on and on but you "nailed" it with yours. Another great post Debbie!
ReplyDeleteGood post...and I needed the reminder...today I was just off and confused and couldn't figure out what to chose...I kept hearing just do what you know to do and yet I wasn't sure what that was...so many decisions right now, so this was good for me to read...thanks!!
ReplyDeleteAlways a good reminder...
ReplyDeleteSo good! I must choose to sit and be still so that I can hear Him speak!
