Where are you Living?

Where are you living?  That's a question I have for you today.  No, I'm not talking about where your physical home is located.  Let me explain.

This is our quote for "In Other Words Tuesday":
"His Word is a book of instructions, guidelines, and boundaries.  If we study the Word, learn His ways, and submit to His Word, we are protected."  ~ Psalm 91 He Who Dwells by Laura Velez

I actually read this little eBook (on sale now for $.99 on amazon) but I want to add the next sentence to this quote:
"If we step out of those boundaries (into sin) we are no longer under His protection."
Think about it.  I love the illustration using the umbrella.  If you stay under the umbrella, you won't get wet.  But if you step outside of the umbrella's protection, you'll get wet.

I am so thankful that I've been saved from my sins through the blood of Jesus.  However, I still walk in this world and so I get my feet dirty.  I am in no way perfect and I sin.  There are consequences when I sin.

What helps me is to follow my instruction book; the Bible.  And no, it's not simply following a bunch of rules.  When I spend time in the Word, I am changed from the inside out.  I find that I delight in what God desires for me.

I found this wall decoration on Dayspring and thought it summarized where I want to live.

John 15:4 (ASV) says:
"Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me."

I will say ...

  • I want to have His protection.
  • I choose to abide in Him.
  • I love to spend time in His Word.
  • I want what God wants for my life.
  • I want to bear fruit that will impact others.
  • I want to make a difference in other's lives for Him.
How about you?  Where are living?  Are you under His protection or are you venturing out where you don't belong?

I'm linking up with Sunflower Faith for "In Other Words Tuesday".

Blessings and love,

  1. Oh wow!
Debbie...fantastic post and thank you so much for joining in, this week's, In Other Words.

Love to hear what you think of the e-book when you are done; It's a short study and read, but it seems to really just amplify how powerful a reminder Psalm 91 is.

Your post is such a reminder of what an encouragement God's word is to us.

  2. Dear Debbie,
To answer honestly;I do not always live under the umbrella of grace.
Just a few days ago I swore to a doctor, when she didn't want to listen to me and give my mother the help she needed.
I guess the Norwegian edition of 911 will have it on tape. Then they also have on tape that the doctor didn't do her best to help my mother.
I might have cried out, but I was wrong to swear.
In a split second I could have stopped myself, but I chose not to.
I have of course prayed the Lord of forgiveness, I did not ill use his name.
I doubt I'll be able to beg that doctor about forgiveness. She did four major errors and negligences towards a helpless woman, and she is a Christian.
Well, I am in a way sorry for swearing, and that is my responsibility.
She is responsible of malpractice, that is not for me to forgive.

I guess, while writing, I see that one sin does not level up for another sin.
I have to hurry under that umbrella.

  3. I'm telling you, you need to write a devotional book. It would be a best seller for sure!

I'm afraid that i often stray outside the umbrella but thankfully I am easily convicted and have never strayed too far. And, I often think of the verse, "Be still and know." We get so busy that we often are moving too fast to listen to His still small voice. I know I am guilty of that for sure. Yes, abiding in Him while being still! I need to work on that. Hugs!

  4. Hi Debbie ~ I haven't been here in a while but I'm glad the Lord had me come by tonight. Your post reminds me how much I need to stay under His umbrella and not stray. It also reminds me of His amazing grace and forgiveness all I need to do is ask Him!

    Blessings...Chelle

  5. What a good illustration you painted in our minds how like the umbrella, the Lord's protection shield us from those things that will harm us and cause spiritual death...Oh I pray that I will not make those wrong choices of daring to leave that shield! A battle indeed that rages in our souls. But because of His grace we can do everything through Christ...the One Who gives us the strength...God bless & protect you sister.
