I love Facebook! It's a place where I can connect with friends and family from all over the world.
Where else can you go on your birthday morning and find so many birthday greetings? :)
Living in Phoenix, I don't get to see many of my cousins. But all I have to do is check out their Facebook profile and I can see the latest photos.
These are my California cousins. Rod is pictured with his son Jake. My Uncle Bob is in the middle and my cousin Russ is pictured with his son.
Of course, their daughters had to join their brothers in a photo op too.
And I laughed so hard when I saw this photo. My cousin's son is the one on the right ...priceless!
Then there are those long lost family photos I get to see. Kristin and Katie are in this one at a birthday party. Katie is the little girl with the pony tails and Kristin is on her left. The girls are all grown up now and I missed ever seeing this photo until Facebook.
I also get to join Facebook groups. My parents grew up in Brooklyn, New York. I joined a Facebook group of people who attended the same church as my parents and grandparents so I got to see old photos.
This picture was taken back in the 1930's. My dad is the birthday boy in the center. All of the other children were identified on Facebook. How cool is that?
I've many more reasons for loving Facebook. But this is just a start. Keeping in touch with family, friends and blogging friends has been a wonderful adventure for me. I'm getting very good at Google Translate so I can converse with my Norwegian relatives. And I am getting reacquainted with many of my Lindenhurst High School classmates. With a reunion coming up this summer, it makes it more fun to 'talk' ahead of time.
So, if you've hesitated getting on board I'd say go for it. How about you? Are you on Facebook?
Blessings and love,

Yes, I love, hmmmp addicted to facebook. I have found lost family and friends and it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed seeing pictures of the little ones of my high school classmates. I feel like I get to watch them grow up. It's great to keep in touch with our former friends from before our move too.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
Bethany
Great photos. I use fb to find old friends....just recently finding a previous sister-in-law that I lost touch with some years ago. U just never know who U might find. I enjoyed reading. Have a great day. We R headed for 100 degree temps.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a wonderful way of connecting with friends and family...especially when they live far away. I have also truly been blessed by the connections with my Christian blogging friends through Facebook! It makes me feel part of a community even during times when we are alone.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you, Debbie!
I'm with you, Debbie. I've reconnected with cousins I hadn't seen since I was a child. (And that was long long ago. lol). Not to mention people I knew in high school and all four churches we worked with through the years. It's terrific. By the way you missed a great tea on Saturday. I've posted pictures on my Charlotte's Weblog blog.
ReplyDeleteHugs & blessings,
Charlotte
I love FB too. I have cousins and family all over the US and in Greece too. It's so fun keeping up. I have also seen pictures put out from when we were kids and all lived in the same area that I've never seen before. It's just so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI recently signed up on fb because I needed to in order to sign up for Pinterest, a site where I can collect photos of things I am interested in. I'm not sure I want to get too much into it because I already am "into" blogs, etc. What I really need to do is clean and sort my house! :) But all things in moderation, with God first!
ReplyDeleteI tried Facebook but didn't like it. However, my kids want me back on it so maybe I'll have to reconsider. lol!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm on it too & it's also good to keep track of what your kids are up to.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures-so cool!

I think Facebook is great. I've connected with former classmates, relatives, and as Joan pointed out, several within the Christian blogging community.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm happy to have you as a Facebook friend.
Blessings,
Joa n
These are great pictures! I love FB too - for many of those same reasons. Especially since we have moved away from our "home of 13 years", we still feel connected to the friends we left behind.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of friends... I'm so glad to call you mine. :-)
Love to you~
Jennifer
Debbie - I simply do NOT know where you find the time and energy.
ReplyDeleteBlogging AND Facebook. About all I can say about Facebook is, I saw the movie, The Social Network. :)
Have a great day! ...Marsha
I love facebook as well...pretty much the same reasons you love it. I get to connect with family, long lost friends from high school, my church family, and so much more.
ReplyDeleteFacebook is not as bad as so many people may make it to be. I believe it's what you make of it and you choose to use it.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteAs you know I am not on FB. Perhaps I should, but as you also know, I barely get get on line long enough to read your blog. But I do think it would be fun to connect with family and friends. Maybe this summer.........
I like facebook because all of my kids LIVE on it and I can read their conversations with each other, haha. I also like keeping up with a lot of their old friends and what they are up to, seeing the pics of their kids as they start their family's etc. Truthfully I have only found a couple of my old friends on there. I also like seeing pics I would have otherwise missed from some of my cousins and out of state relatives. All in all? It IS good....Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I fear I have become too dependent on FB. Since our move three weeks ago, I check it out at least 3-4 times a day. The only social network app I love more is Skype. I get to play Simon Says real time with my grandson via Skype and talk to my college roommate in China free of charge.

I tried Facebook some time ago, and found it a bit too overwhelming for me. Too fast paced, too many things going on in too short a time. So I deactivated my account. But I know and understand that it has its many good points.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the reasons for staying on facebook.
Sadly, I have missed my blogging friends who no longer visit as often because they are spending more time on facebook.
Always glad to reconnect with you Debbie. To know your thoughts. And share what is on your heart.
Love
Lidj
I am on Facebook, but took a little absence during Lent. Some days it is hard to stay away, because like you, family for me is far away.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss your birthday? Oh, I am so sorry. See, can't keep up without FB :)
Love it Debbie, we are on the same page, I just did a post yesterday about 2 facebook encounters I had. Great post! Lori
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't do FB lots of family members do, and they give me the scoop. :) Even second-hand news can be helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to connect with people on facebook? I love it!
