Missing My Mom

Today would have been my mom's 83rd birthday.  However, she died a little over seven years ago.

There are days when I wish I could pick up the phone and talk to her.  And other times, it seems like it's been so long since I last saw her.

She was so supportive of me my entire life.  She was the one who encouraged me.  She was the one who read to me as a child.  She was the one who sat with me in the clinics all day as we waited for my appointments before and after my open heart surgery.  She loved that I was active in high school and was there for every sporting event that I twirled at.  She always encouraged me to bring my friends home so she could get to know them.  My friends loved my mom too.

This photo was taken on the last birthday my mom celebrated on this earth.  She was turning 75 years old and was visiting me in Phoenix.  We went to T. Cook's at The Royal Palms Resort.  She loved restaurants like this one when we could get all dressed up.  But she wasn't feeling well at the time.  In fact, on the way to the restaurant I remember so clearly how she told me she was ready to die.  She had been in so much pain for years and was tired.  The Lord was gracious and took her home seven months later.

So, I'm thinking of her today on this special day.  I know she is no longer in pain.  And I can't wait to see her again one day in heaven.

Blessings and love,

Oh, Debbie, I so know what you are feeling. There is just no one like our Momma. Some days I so long to talk to my Mom. She was so full of wisdom and wise counsel. Blessings to you!

Oh Debbie I am sorry for this loss. I still have my mom of course, but I was thinking just last night how different she is since her stroke, and now the beginnings of dementia. Mom as I knew her for years and years is gone. I cherish the time we still have together and I am grateful for it as well, but how I long sometimes for a LONG conversation like the ones we use to have. I am looking forward to that day in heaven...Praying for you today, HUGS

I feel this right with you Debbie. What a great picture of the 2 of you. I miss all of the things you mentioned here, and I know that our moms will be waiting to see our faces one day. I hope your mom and mine have already met and are comparing notes. :)

Praying a special prayer of comfort for you right now.

This is how I feel about my grandma. She was my best pen pal and even now, 13 years later, I still find myself thinking "I need to write to grandma about this".

Debbie,
I am so glad that you have such good memories of your mom. There is hardly a day goes by that I don't think of my mom; but like you, I am glad she is no longer in pain. Aren't we glad they were "ready to go" - as not everyone has that blessed assurance.
Have a good weekend - Marsha

June 10th would have been my wonderful mother's 102 birthday! The Lord let me have the joy of her in my life until she was 89. I know how you feel because even though my mom has been in heaven for thirteen years now I STILL MISS HER. Sometimes it seems like she was here just days ago, talking, laughing, hugging my boys and telling them how much she loved them. It will be a glorious day when we are reunited with our mothers and all the rest of those we love! And best of all, we have an eternity to worship Jesus!

How blessed you are to have had a mother like you did. I am sure today was a hard day, while rejoicing at the same time that you will get to see her in heaven!

It's such a horrendous loss, our mothers. I relate so well to your "missing", and with little wonder. It sounds like she was a huge part of your life; and you, hers.

Oh the joy when we dance on streets that are golden with our moms. I wonder if they've met yet?

Comfort & love,
Kathleen

Hi Debbie it's been a while since I stopped by & I saw you by another friend so I wanted to say Hi & I'm so glad I did because we have something in common. I miss my Mommy too! Mine left in 2006 April 20th. She called at 6;00 a.m. and said she had a stomach ache & I told her to go back to bed and lay on her stomach or if she had some 7up take a sip of that then go back to bed & I'd be over later. Mom passed in her sleep that morning. I should've gone over there. My Mom had just turned 84. I'm sorry for your loss, but I wanted you to know you're not alone. HUGS DOLLY

Hi Debbie,
Even though my mother has been gone for 13 years there are still moments when it hurts so much that she isn't here to share in my daily joys and sorrows. She was always my best friend, and always will be! Blessings and prayers to you as you are missing your mom and all the sweet memories you shared.

Your words bring such honor to your mom's memory and glory to the Father as you share your wonderful relationship with her, Debbie. My mom passed away just last Nov., and I keep wanting to call her to chat as we used to do. To be reunited with our moms is a day we both look forward to, and I trust Jesus in His timing. This is a touching post, dear friend.
