The Blessings of Spring Break

An entire week of spring break was just what I needed. I'd been anticipating this time considering all I wanted to accomplish. I had a list of projects to do. I had compiled a list of people I wanted to see. But spring in Phoenix includes blooming flowers.

I love flowers. I love roses in my garden. But citrus in bloom is something else. I'm allergic. One year I actually woke up with hives all over my body. I had taken a long walk in an area where the orange trees were blooming abundantly.

And our condo is located smack dab in the middle of a citrus grove! Go figure.

Many of the items on my to-do list fell to the wayside. I took naps. I read. I took sinus and allergy medications.

I had to laugh when I saw Joy of Mom's photo and quote.

Maybe that's what I really needed.

However, I did  manage to visit with a few friends. I didn't get to see all on my list. I had a long conversation with one of my closest friends.

I sipped many glasses of my favorite iced tea.

I spent time reading. I highly recommend a book entitled Killing Christians: Living the Faith Where it's Not Safe to Believe by Tom Doyle. With all that I see on the news about the Middle East, I was encouraged to read how many people are coming to know Jesus. I was amazed at their courage to live out their faith even though their lives are in danger. Their families turn their backs on them. I found myself praying for these people more and more.

I cherished the extra time I had to spend during my early morning quiet time. It really is all about relationship.

So now I'm ready to return to work and my the Mini-Mustangs. I'll miss the extra time I had each day with my husband Greg. But I do feel more energized and rested.

So happy spring! Did you have time for a break? How do you spend your vacation time?

Blessings and love,

Is it Time to Replace Your Old Mascara?

Have you noticed the women on TV seem to have the longest eyelashes lately? Eyelash extensions seem to be the rage right now. But they are expensive and have to be redone about every 60 days. You have to go to a skilled professional to have them applied.  I knew I wasn't in the market for something that took so much time and money.

But then I discovered Younique Moodstruck 3D lash mascara!

I bought it for $29 online and loved it. Now I sell it!  This is the mascara I use every single day. I love it.

I wrote about it on Heart Choices several months ago. I formed a private Facebook page to promote it to my friends. Many have tried it and from the comments I've heard seem to love it.

However once opened, the mascara should be replaced within 2-3 months.

One of my co-workers mentioned that she sometimes gets little flakes on her face from the mascara. I shared a secret of mine with her. I use Q-tip cosmetic applicators to deal with this. They have pointy tips and I found them in my local drugstore for a few dollars. I apply my two step method and keep one of these Q-tips handy. This way if there is a stray flake I immediately dab it and it's gone. If I notice a stubborn flake after I've applied my makeup, I might dip the Q-tip in my makeup remover and voila ...it's gone, gone, gone.

I love how my lashes pop with this mascara. And it doesn't take me much longer to apply than regular mascara.

My friend Helen was hesitant to purchase it at first. She told me that most mascaras seem to clump on her and she starts picking it. After using the Younique mascara for a time, I asked her if she was picking it. She said no! It didn't clump and it stayed on all day long.

I've had a few friends email me photos of the eyes with the mascara on. Lovely!

So if you've never tried it, here is a link to my Lashes by Debbie site. If you ordered it before and need to replace it, you can also order it here.

Here's to beautiful lashes that don't cost an arm and a leg. :)

Blessings and love,
