My Morning Quiet Time

My morning quiet time is something I treasure.  I spend time in God's Word.  I pray.  I listen.  I praise Him and thank Him.  It has become a constant in my life.  On the rare occasion that I miss this time, my husband will ask me if I had my quiet time.  He notices when the fruit of the Spirit isn't so evident.  I am dependent on the Lord for my daily walk.

This photo was taken when I was living in my dream home in the Biltmore.  I loved that home and was so grateful for the beautiful views of the mountains.  I no longer live there.  Instead, I have to walk to the parking lot of our condo to glimpse the mountains that once were in my backyard.  My home now is much smaller.  But I've realized that what's most important hasn't changed.

Psalm 46:1-5 says:

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.  There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.  God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day."

No matter where I live physically, God is with me.  He longs to spend time with me.  Sometimes it's so hard for me to fathom that fact.  But it's true.  And He wants to spend time with you.  Will you take some time each day and begin it with Him?  He will begin to open your eyes.  He will speak to you.  And I can tell you that over time others will notice and ...God gets all the glory.

So this is where I now get to spend my morning quiet time.  Yes the surroundings look different.  But He never changes.

  1. What beautiful pictures. I think wherever you are would be beautiful. You would make it that way not only physically, but your presence would shine there. I know it is not just you, but God's Holy Spirit shining through you. I'm glad you shared today.

  2. What a great testimony. My family definitely notices the days I don't start with the Lord. And it's funny the things that bug me so much when I don't have that time with Him..... your example of the house is a good one.... though you may long to live in the other house, you are content and filled with joy when your eyes are on Him. Great post Friend!

  3. I've always loved that picture Debbie! I also love that you have a little yard where you live now, and can make it look so homey and beautiful. Pots of plants always work, even in small spaces. You do have a little yard space too, and it's private and lovely.

  5. Well your old view was certainly spectacular, but the new one is peaceful, calm, and pretty. I love them both. Oh how right you about a quiet time every morning. I have struggled and struggled with that this last year with mom here. I am looking forward to that being a constant again. It DOES change your day so. Enjoy your week Debbie. Thanks for your sweet words and prayers btw, I have appreciated them so.

  8. The Lord is always with us. So from the 3 bedroom home Chandler to the studio in South Florida. Like you, it's not my space that matters, but His space inside my heart.
    Much love,

  10. Yes, my friend. He may uproot and move us, but He remains the same, most worthy of our praise! We have nothing to fear, because He goes before us to prepare the way. Blessings!

  11. Oh, how I love those verses in Psalm 46. My husband does his daily devotions each morning at about 6:30am at the kitchen table and I do mine either before I get out of bed or a little later at my desk. The view isn't a pretty as yours but we share the same love for his Word.
