Five Minute Friday ~ Jump

Five Minute Friday

It's Five Minute Friday when I link up with Lisa-Jo of The Gypsy Mama.  We receive a one word writing prompt each week.  And then the timer starts.  Five minutes is the limit.  Ready, set, go ...

Our word for today is ...JUMP

GO

I have a confession to make.  Jumping scares me.  Just the thought of taking a leap into the unknown is frightening.  You see, my personal preference is to know what's ahead.  I like to plan my life and then work my plan.  But I'm learning that life isn't always so cooperative.  Life happens.  Plans may even fail.

I want to walk by faith.  That involves trust.  And it often means taking a leap of faith even when I don't know where I'll land.

I've learned that my circumstances and my feelings don't always match what I know to be true.

So do I trust my circumstances or do I trust God's promises to me?

Even when I feel like He is not intervening according to my timetable, I remind myself that His timing is perfect.

Even if there are times when I feel so alone, I remember and cling to His promise that He will never leave me nor forsake me.

So I choose to jump and trust the Lord in all things.  This is what it takes to walk by faith and not by sight.

STOP

Blessings and love,

  1. Dear Debbie
I think we are all quite fond of knowing what lies around the next corner. I don't think life is ever comfortable at the end of our ropes, but where else would we want to be than in His love!
    Blessings

  3. Oh friend, me too. Every time I jump, into anything, it's with clenched fist and tightly closed eyes. Afraid I will crash and burn before I surface. Knowing He is there, ready to catch us if we fall, makes the jumping so worth it. Jumping with you! Have a beautiful weekend.

    sounds easier than 'jump.'

  7. Well said, Debbie. I sometimes read the end of a book because I don't like the suspense. But I can look back and see the times I have taken a leap of faith and I have seen God's faithfulness. Besides, I HAVE read the end of HIS book, and I know it all works according to HIS purpose. Thank you for reminding me of His faithfulness, dear friend!

  8. Oh, I love a plan and then working the plan too, but, it doesn't always work that way. In fact, in the past 5 years, it mostly has not for me.

A wonderful post Debbie! Happy weekend!

  10. Debbie, Good thoughts on jumping in with faith. I'm also more of a "planner" than a "blind jumper" - but like you, I want to be more willing to take that leap of trust.
    Blessings to you.
