Five Minute Friday: HERE

It's Five Minute Friday when I write for five minutes flat on a word given to us by Lisa-Jo of Gypsy Mama.  Our word for today is ...HERE.

GO

Here I am.  But the question in my mind is am I ready and available when He calls me to His Kingdom business?  Or am I too preoccupied with my own agenda and to-do list?

Here I am.  My heart's desire to do His will each day.  But then I get caught up in the distractions of life.  The urgent replaces the most important.  I miss some of the opportunities to touch a life that is hurting.  Instead I hurry on to the next appointment of my day.

Here I am.  As I think about the obedient ones listed in the Bible, I want to be one of those who heard His call and obeyed.  I know it may be a call within my own family or my neighbor.  Or it may be to lend a listening ear to a friend who is hurting.  Or to give a hug to someone in need.  Or to visit an elderly person who is so very lonely.

Will I make the time to listen and ...obey.

Here I am.  Do I even hear the Spirit's prompting?

Keep me close Lord.  I am here.  I want to be able to listen.  I want to be available.

STOP

Blessings and love,

  1. Thank you for the beautiful reminder.

I also get so caught up in the day to day that I neglect what is most important.

  4. Thank you for words, they have touched me today! We have recently moved to a new ministry and because of the move, I find myself consumed with my to do list and unpacking that some days I forget why we moved...to minister...not to decorate!!

  5. Hi Debbie,
Here I am...with you in wanting to hear the Lord's call and obey. Makes me think of when the Lord called Samuel and he answered, "Speak Lord, your servant is listening."

I had good intentions of joining "In Other Words" this week, but intentions was as far as I got. :(

    God bless,
    Laura

  6. Oh the Tyranny of the urgent often keeps me from doing what He's called me to do. "Keep me close Lord". My heart's cry as well!

  8. I'm constantly struggling with my "to do" list, and finding it hard to be as "here," for God's calling. It's not always as loud as my "to do" list, not as in my face. But I know the eternal outcomes are always more important than my "gotta get that done" list.
    Thank-you for the post.

  10. Well I can testify to the fact that you stopped and answered emails this week with encouraging words and prayers for a mother dealing with some issues...so I know you stop!!

Thanks and thanks for the words to push us all toward more of him and obedience

  11. Debbie~Once school starts in another week, it will be very hard not to get caught up in the urgent of the "here" rather than the "Here I am, Lord." This summer I have had more time to do a Bible Study and let it impact my life. But will I make that same room in the fall when there's work, a letter to son at boot camp, a blog post, dinner, etc.
And all I really need is to be "here" with Him. Thank you for the reminder! And thank you for your prayers for my son and my mother-heart which is getting pulled out of me right now. Oh, the letting go!
    Blessings,
    Janis

  12. Lovely post, Debbie. I just read a post that talked about the journey and missing out on things because we are so focused on our destination. God places us just where He wants us - here and now.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  13. I love the dot you've connected to "here". It speaks of surrender; of readiness. I pray I am always & ever ready to speak up, as did Isaiah ... "Here I am Lord, send me."
