Counting Blessings

As I celebrate Independence Day, I continue to count my blessings.  I'm over #100 and  I'll keep on going  ...

#105  The prayers and well wishes of so many friends for my mother-in-love

I was amazed at the outpouring of love on Facebook and Heart Choices after I wrote that Greg's mom fell and broke her hip.  After hip surgery, she is now recuperating in a Rehab facility as she works hard in physical therapy.  Her goal is to return to her own home so she can remain independent and care for her dog Barney.
Come home soon!
#106  A sweet blogging friend's card to my mother-in-love that blessed her so much

Gloria was amazed that someone she never met would take the time to send her a card.  She was so grateful to Bethany of Raindrops & Rainbows.

And I thank God for Bethany who has reached out in this way to me in the past when my sister needed encouragement and prayer.  I pray that I would learn from Bethany as I see how much this has meant to us.

#107  A long weekend to spend time with my husband Greg

#108  Air conditioning as the temperatures in the Phoenix area are so high they are setting records; 117 degrees and monsoons.

During Rancho Solano's Summer Camp, we had a special treat.  The local fire department sent a crew to our school with a fire truck.  The kids had the opportunity to sit in the driver's seat and even hit the siren.  They had such fun!

#109  Kind firemen who had such patience with the little children

The children also got to hold the firemen's hose and try to hit the bull's eye.  On a hot day, this was such fun as many of us got wet in the process.

Trying on the fireman's boots was such fun.  All of the children wanted to get in on this.  They had a hard time walking in those boots though.

During Summer Camp, I had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing young people.  A few were home from college or on summer break from high school.  And one was a new teacher recently hired to work on another campus of our school this next year.  I love to listen to their views and excitement as they work and interact with the children.

#110  For the opportunity to work with some amazing young people in Summer Camp

In my morning quiet time, I am studying the book of Hebrews.  There are two ways to live the Christian life:

  1. In my own strength
  2. In God's strength
I've found that I struggle at times with living in my own strength so it helps me to read and reread Hebrews.  I am also listening once again to Scott Samter's audio teachings on Hebrews.  I need repetition.

#111  The freedom to read my Bible

#112  The opportunity to access free teachings online

#113  The freedom I can have as I abide in Christ

#114 The opportunity I have to live in God's strength and not my own

I'm linking up with Ann of A Holy Experience as I continue to participate in Multitudes on Mondays as we count our many blessings.

Blessings and love,

  2. I enjoyed reading your blessings. Although I have some issues with Ann's book, I've long recorded my own daily blessings and gifts from God that I call grace notes. Yes, air conditioning is definitely a blessing! lol

I'll pray for your MIL's complete recovery. We're dealing with aging issues with my MIL too. It's difficult to see the challenges they face as they get older.

  10. A sweet reminder of all we have to be thankful for Debbie! :) The best way for me to count my blessings is to give thanks and to live with a thankful heart in every moment. We must always stop and consider all of the things to be thankful for; there is indeed so much!
