Then Sings My Soul Saturday ~ Let The Words

It's Then Sings My Soul Saturday when I link with Amy of Signs, Miracles and Wonders.

This past week has been very challenging. Between a personal situation and concern for my sister Christine after her sudden eye surgery, it helps me to see how other people handle adversity.

When I think of Jennifer Rothschild ... I realize how fortunate I am.

Jennifer Rothschild is completely blind. She wasn't born blind. When she was 15 years old, she was diagnosed with a rare eye disorder and she progressively became blind. However, she is so talented.

Not only does she sing and play the piano but she is also ...a well known Christian speaker and author.

I've had the privilege of hearing her speak and sing in person at my church. She was our keynote speaker at our women's conference one year. And I even got the phone call from her husband accepting the invitation for her to speak. What a pleasure she was!

Her latest Bible study is "Me, Myself & Lies". Listen as she sings "Let The Words". The lyrics and melody are simple and repetitive. But I think they are worth repeating over and over. How often do the words we speak get us into trouble?

Psalm 19:14 "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer."

Remember to choose your words carefully and ...listen more than you speak.

  4. What a beautiful and soothing song. It's new to me. I love songs that come straight from scripture. I'll have to look up more about Jennifer; she's new to me, too.

Great advice for the day (and life!): listen more than I speak. Thanks, Debbie.

  9. She really has a beautiful voice. I can't imagine going through losing my vision like she did. How frightening that must have been. But God has given her so much insight through it all.

    I loved this.

  10. This song is such a blessing. I have it on my iPod, I downloaded it I guess when I was doing the Me, Myself & Lies study on the LPM blog this summer. When I listen to it the tune and words get stuck in my head. It is so soothing.

    Have a great Sunday!

  11. Debbie,

This was just a beautiful song...and you are right the words are simple but so pure and definitely worth repeating to ourselves and to the Lord.

I miss you too, my friend, but have had a sick son and have not been feeling too great myself. I'm trying to at least post 3 times a week but sometimes it's just not possible.

I pray you are doing well and when the Lord brings you to my mind, I pause and pray for you.

    Big hugs!

  13. It is so often the way of those who've been afflicted in some way. Many rise above their circumstances to live on the high ground. There they can see forever and inspire us, which is certainly true on many levels with J.R.

    Thank you,
    Kathleen

  14. Having trouble watching the video, but what I heard, I like! Jennifer hasn't allowed her blindness to cripple God's message of grace through her. I haven't done her recent study, but am longing for a closer look in the days to come.

I love the Scripture here; my childhood pastor used this passage every Sunday before beginning to preach. It is ingrained into my heart; may it also be etched into my way of doing life!
