What Makes You Smile?

Smiling is good for you! It can actually change your mood. It can be contagious. I have to warn you that you might catch it by the end of this post.

Did you know that the act of smiling helps to relax your body and can even lower your blood pressure? Hmm ...better than expensive blood pressure medications with side effects.

And the muscles we use to smile tend to lift our faces. Hmm ...cheaper than a facelift.

As Phyllis Diller says, "A smile is a curve that sets everything straight."

And Mark Twain, "Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been."

There may be some very real stressors in your life and of course, you can't ignore them and pretend they aren't there. But we have a moment by moment choice ...as to how we respond.

A simple smile can impact those around you and even light up an entire room. I want you to spend a few moments and take a look at a few of these smiles.

And I dare you ...to not smile!

See, I told you it's contagious. So, tell me the truth. Are you smiling?

For me, there's nothing like a child's face that brings a smile to my face. I can also think of a few other things that cause me to smile:

  • A rainbow
  • A sunset
  • My family
  • Knowing that God loves me

Now, it's your turn? What makes you smile? I'd love to read your comments.

I think you know me well enough now to know that I not only love to smile but laugh as well. I have some serious laugh lines on my face but I've earned them!
Let's see, what makes me smile? My family, friends, reading blogs (most of the time),flowers, my smiley face cup, 75% off signs at my favorite store, chocolate, coffee....Okay I'll stop there!!
    HUGS to you my friend.

I truly enjoy smiling. It is something I enjoy a lot! It speaks of our heart condition and shows that we are allowing God's love to shine through and enjoy the blessings all around us. I try to never stop that flow!

I love to watch my children laugh!

I love to hear them giggle!

I love to hear them tell each other stories!

I love to hear my husband teach!

I love to watch the morning sun rise over our property!

I love to see God's creation all around me!

I love hearing from precious friends!

    I love you!
Blessings today may your smile never leave your lips today!

  4. Yes - I'm smiling! What great pictures. Lots of things make me smile, but one of my favorites is when I look in on my sleeping children before I go to bed - seeing them sweetly sleep and looking so much younger than they really are makes me smile. :-)

    Have a great day, Debbie~

  5. Well, i posted some pics at this post not too long ago on this post: http://kateekat.blogspot.com/2009/07/walking-on-wednesday.html

The second one down always makes me smile. :)

I love trying to "give" a smile to everyone i meet, but i tell you, i can be uphill work in Orange County, CA. NO ONE, or very few will even look at me! (I'm not THAT ugly! LOL) Folks here are too busy or whatever to look at other people.

But it is not as hard as it was in Eastern KY. Whoa. Very depressed economically. Folks would look at me there, & their frowns & grimaces got deeper when i smiled at them.

You are right, we all need a smile. Or several. :)

  6. What cute pictures! Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

So many things make me smile! I love to laugh. The joy of the Lord is my strength!

    Love ya!

  8. Pics were great - right from the very first one, I was smiling. What makes me smile? Many of the same things you listed - my family,
yes, a good sale is good, precious memories, seeing a friend.... Sometimes I tell people that they make my heart smile. I probably heard it somewhere, but to me it just tells someone how happy I am to see or hear from them, that they are special to me.
HOpe you have a mile of smiles this week. Love you,
