Thankful Thursday ~ Possibilities

It's thankful Thursday and the theme for this week is ...possibilities.

When I checked Iris' blog to find out what the theme for this week would be, I have to admit that my first impression was to groan inside. You see, I'm in a place right now where I don't know what the future holds. And I like to know what's going to happen. But I guess that's part of walking by faith.

Abraham was called by God to leave what was familiar and to venture out on a journey of faith in obedience. I'm sure that was scary for him. But he obeyed since Genesis 12:4 says "So Abram left, as the LORD had told him."

I have repeatedly written on Heart Choices that we don't always choose our circumstances, but ...we can choose how we respond.

I guess I need to practice what I preach. That's the hard part. I find it easy to learn and have the head knowledge. But that knowledge needs to move down to my heart so ...I can apply it to my life.

So, on this thankful Thursday, I choose to embrace possibilities.

Do I know where I'm going? Not yet. But I'm thankful that God knows where He will take me. And that's good enough for me.

How about you? Do you embrace possibilities or do you stay in your comfort zone?

I encourge you to check other blogs who participated in thankful Thursday. You can find them on Grace Alone.

  1. How true Debbie, Jesus take the wheel....I love that song by Carrie Underwood. That is how I feel because I know I would go off the road or end up in an accident, or lost. It is nice to know that He goes with us down our roads, the road I am on has had many unexpected turns and U turns but He has been there.

  2. Debbie,

I can't help but feel like I need to be the cheerleader here and say 'just be patient' my friend and wait for that sweet sweet moment when your heart does grab ahold of what Jesus has already given you in your head. It is truly a moment of surrender and yielding and brokenness.

I remember always singing that song brokenness is what I long for and thinking "no, it's not"...ha! When my heart grabbed ahold of what my head knew...oh yes, brokenness was what I longed for..

May it be so for you, my friend. I can't wait to read it when it happens. I love your tender heart towards the Lord. You bless me so.

    Hugs to you!

  4. Oh I could have written this post also. I like things mapped out and organized, but I think God purposely shields things from my eyes to teach me faith and reliance on him.

    Have a great day.

  6. I'm sure everyone has often heard, "I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future." That is the way it has always been, and praise God, always will be. Just this week, I have been reading the passage where God tells Abram to "go to a place that I will show you." I believe Abram had it pretty good where he was; probably wondered why God would do this thing. Of course, we know that God wanted to bless him. And bless him, He did! Blessing to you my dear friend, blessing to you.

  9. Hi Debbie. Really, none of us know what tomorrow holds. God could uproot any of us and send us out (just as He did Abraham).

I pray He will give you joy and peace as you follow His lead. He has great plans for you, His daughter.

    Bless you dear!
    Beth
